Great Battery Backup!
These TrippLite units are a GREAT battery backup! I can't say enough good things about them - and I would rate them far higher than an APC battery backup. I work for a Cooperative telephone company that is also a wireless Internet service provider - and we have close to 20 of this units out in the field - some for over 5 years without issues! We also install them for many other customers as well, just because they perform so well. If you have an application where you will be using a battery backup to provide backup power until a standby generator can take over the load - these units will not shut down because of the dirty voltage coming off of those generators. We have had one 1000VA unit at a customer site that had a failed cooling fan (the UPS did NOT shut down, God knows how long that fan was off for) - and TrippLite customer service shipped us our a replacement promptly, and we were able to replace the unit at a time that did not affect that customer's business. I have also personally replaced the batteries in both the UPS itself, and the additional battery packs for these units. I was able to perform this maintenance on a production site during the middle of the day - and everything went smoothly. While it's not the easiest to get your hands in the tight places to connect the batteries - I would have to guess that's about the same with all UPS units with replaceable batteries. Again - great units - you will not be disappointed!

Not being used for computer application
I am using this UPS for professional audio equipment so I am not implementing the automated shutdown features it offers for computer systems. The unit is well constructed and was easy to install in an EIA equipment rack. Using the rear rail supports was a bit of a chore as the device was meant for a server rack which normally has a much greater depth than the rack in which this UPS is mounted. A couple of cuts to the adjustable drawer glide style rear support rails with a metal cutting saw and I had attachment points at both the front AND rear of the unit. This UPS has worked without fail for over a year. We tried a few simulated power failure tests when we first bought it (the UPS feature has not been needed in the field yet) and it switched over without loss of power and ran the equipment for a more than ample period of time to allow shut down without incident.

Has not been put to the test; Loud fan
This is one of those products you don't know how it performs until put to the test. Well, so far, the one I purchased has not been put to the test but others have performed as expected. One point that I want to make is that it has a front mounted fan that runs even on shore power. Most of the time, it's operating at a medium-low speed which is audible in a quieter environment. However, there are times it goes to a medium-high speed which I personally find annoying in a quieter environment. Therefore, I have relocated the UPS to a more distance location. BT approved with awareness of the continuously running fan

Sooooooo Loud
I bought this Tripp Lite 2200VA RM unit to replace 2 1500VA RM units from CyberPower. The CP units were virtually silent, unless a power outage occurred, then alarm beeps and fan noise were enough to raise Elvis. The bad: After installing the this Tripp Lite 2200VA unit, immediately after plugging it in, it started squealing and buzzing. This was not the fan or an alarm, this was the charging circuitry. It sounded like the caps were boiling away and about to have a critical failure. This is in my home office, and you could here it buzzing in the living room, which is 25' down the hallway. Unplugging and letting it go into inverter mode made the sound go away. Same if you did a battery test. Plugging it back in, or after a batt test, the very loud squealing and buzzing returned. Called Tripp Lite tech support and they tried to convince me this was "normal". He said I had purchased a data center class product and noise was expected. 1) Data center UPS' would be something much larger, like 5000VA or a dedicated UPS cabinet, not a rinky dink 2200VA UPS. 2) It's marketed for small office and home office use, where noise would be an issue. 3) The Tripp Lite tech didn't sound like he cared if my house burned down. After working in IT procurement for 25 years, I have never, ever heard a UPS that was this loud. And there was definitely nothing normal about it. The rude and disinterested tech left a bad taste in my mouth, too. The good: Great rail kit included, easy and quick to install. Liked the LCD panel and how easy it was to change settings and test the battery, with multiple levels of dimming. You could also set it to continuously scroll through the various statuses.

New product warranty support less than expected.
Unit has a total of 8 outlets, 4 are capable of load shedding and 4 are not. In my new unit 2 of the 4 uncontrolled outlets are intermittent and tripplite/eaton TS has been putting me thru the less than expected customer service cycle. At this point I would not rate them high in the list of possible choices for my next replacement UPS's. Appears to be a manufacturing quality control failure.

Works great, but the charger is very noisy
The unit functions exactly as you would expect a UPS of this size to function. My only complaint is the onboard battery charger is irritatingly noisy, you will _not_ want this device in the same room as you if the batteries are charging. Whatever frequency the switching converter in the charger is using it's in the audible range and incredibly irritating. When the battery pack is charged, the unit is relatively quiet. I knocked a star off because this unit comes with stands to convert it to a 'tower' configuration, which implies it can be used in office environments. Outside of the noise, this has been a great unit so far. If you're putting it in a machine room or data closet, it's well worth the purchase.
