Kärcher SC 3 Portable Multi-Surface Steam Cleaner/Steam Mop with Attachments – Chemical-Free, Rapid 40 Second Heat-Up, Continuous Steam - For Grout, Tile, Hard Floors, Appliances & More

I'd been wanting to upgrade from my handheld steam cleaner for quite a while and decided to purchase this one when we moved to a new home. This was just a few months ago (during the pandemic) and cleaning supplies were really getting hard to find, especially antibacterial/disinfectant cleaners. But steam cleans and sanitizes many items/surfaces without the use of chemical cleaners, which was very welcomed. It's easy to use and small enough to store easily. It's light enough that I have it in a rectangular bag (you know the ones with rigid supports to keep it's shape and 2 rope handles) and store it on top of my dryer in the laundry room. I did purchase the carpet glider separately, which has proven to be an excellent addition to this machine. If you want to sanitize carpets and rugs, the carpet glider will make it much easier. Some reviewers mentioned that upholstery and carpets weren't cleaned very well with this steam cleaner. You have to remember that it is not designed to remove spots/stains, but it will sanitize and I have had some happy surprises of spots/stains lightening or being removed completely just by chance. I use this to clean counters, floor, appliances, bath tub, toilet, sinks, carpet, mattress, dog's kennel/crate. The list goes on and on. I'm very pleased with this purchase!

I waited for a month before I wrote this review to make sure it lasted and still working. Overall, it s easy to use and lightweight to drag around house. I found it most useful cleaning kitchen anything with grease residue. Even though I use cleansing chemicals to clean cooktop regularly before but still left a grease coating over time. With the steam cleaner all grease is gone. I m happy. I found it more useful doing spot cleaning but still ok to mop the floor. Waiting time for heating is not long and reasonable. Ok to add water in the middle of cleaning. Red light will lit up if run out of water. Overall this is one compact good steam cleaner. Happy with the purchase.

I bought this product thinking it was a solid made product. After 50 uses the engine just stopped working. It can not really handle intense usage. I would never recommend this brand again. Better to pay more and get value for the money and a good warrenty.

Kärcher is the German name on the continent which everyone uses for the word, "Pressure washer" because their pressure washers have always been synonymous with Made in Germany quality. This reputation for quality and cleaning expertise extends to their steam cleaning machines as well. I previously owned a base model Kärcher steam cleaner for many years in France and was very upset to have to leave it behind. There was one weak point with that model, in that it did not have a removable reservoir enabling continuous cleaning. In those days, only very expensive models had a detachable reservoir which eliminated having to unplug the machine and let it cool down for up to 15 minutes in order to be able to safely remove the pressure cap on the boiler, and then after filling, wait another 15-20 minutes for it to reach operational pressure. Added to this, small pauses were necessary every few minutes in order to let the boiler pressure build back up. Because of this, I was waiting patiently to seize the opportunity to buy an expensive model with the refillable-detachable reservoir when they became available in North America. Imagine my pleasant surprise to find that the new C3 base model allows for direct filling during operation. I bought it immediately. In fact, it arrived a week ago. I have been on a non-stop cleaning rampage since its arrival and all I have to say is that it works extremely well. In fact, you won't believe how incredibly efficient it is. A filthy window and all its moldings can be rendered brand new in 3-4 minutes. An entire kitchen ceiling can be totally degreased and "repainted" in less than 15. Bathroom tiles are utterly scoured in a fraction of the time and all with NO chemicals. Next up, I am going under my car to clean the engine of my 40-year-old Mercedes to find that cursed diesel leak and I will be wrapping the hose and machine up in plastic to keep it from getting trashed. I'll be using wire brush tip knock-offs that I found on Amazon too, which will stay in the garage. Also, the steam cleaner is the ultimate way to detail the interior of your car as well. Just get one. It's amazing and forget the other brands. This thing is totally lightweight and operates flawlessly.

It has cleaned some things in our house very well. Shower, base boards, floors, window tracks, etc. I was hoping it would clean the grout on our kitchen floor but it wasn’t able to. That’s okay it’s still very useful. The handle feels a bit light duty but is holding up so far. Being able to add water and continue to use it is great, you can just keep going.

My kitchen floor tile grout was looking dirty even after I’d just scrubbed the floor. Finally my daughter suggested this machine and I couldn’t believe the job it did on pulling up all the dirt and making the grout look nice and clean! For floors, it does get the floor quite wet, so I’d suggest some old towels or cloths to sop up as you go. You can also use grout cleaner along with this, apply prior, let sit, and let the machine clean it up. Great value. Saved my back from scrubbing tile with a toothbrush on my hands and knees! Likes: Heats up fairly quickly (in less than a minute), additional water may be added to reservoir while in use, relatively light, includes several useful attachments, hose and power cord are fairly long Dislikes: Tendency to "spit" water initially after powering-up and after sitting unused for more than a few minutes (not good thing for wood surfaces). Replacement water cartridges will be required and are pricy at $20 (Note: I'm purchasing/using distilled water in hopes of extending the life of the cartridge). Storage of attachments on the unit is awkward, Reservoir capacity is limited to just a few cups. Steam output is somewhat weak making the cleaning ability limited to small areas. I feel a rag and brush used with detergent and,water with some elbow grease may be faster in most situations.
