It came with battery, but one of the batteries died in two days. And it can light up a room for 6-7 hours if charged fully. The torches are compact and extremely good. The only problem is to identify the positive and negative of the battery for charging and it took me a while to connect the torch and battery direction to the charger. I keep one in my car and another one at home.
