The Critical Chain Implementation Handbook

I had looked for how to apply TOC to my current workplace over the last year reading many TOC books and this one really puts it all together for project organizations and I think it can even excel at Software organizations as well. Really valuable book

Very thorough coverage of the subject but an absolute pain to read. The author seems to have little appreciation that many of his readers are busy people who want to cut to the chase. The narrative is all over the place with observations, digressions and long winded explanations. It's hard to follow the story.

A well written and well thought out book complete with a lot of insight based on experience. Knowledge gleaned from this book will be very useful.

Extremely usefull. Very well written by someone who obviously knows the subject and works at it. It is one of the best presentations on Critical Chain I have read.

Very well written and absolutely essential reading. Don't wonder about it. Buy it and read it. Period. You could be on page 3 by now...

Great tool for moving from theory to implementation

First, let me say that I've been waiting for a book like this. In my opinion, Critical Chain Project Management is a methodology with the potential to revolutionize project management. Some books to date have been snapshots of ideas in development. Others have been infomercials for consulting companies or software packages. Business novels have their place, but the field needs a mature handbook that focuses on how-to.If you're serious about delivering programs on time then this book is for you. Track milestones and report earned value if you must. To deliver on time however, monitor a handful of buffers to know where tasks delays will impact delivery. Deploy resources and countermeasures to address these, and you will deliver the project on-time. Monitor you project portfolio this way, and you'll know which promises you can afford to make. Warning: CCPM takes a willingness to temporarily freeze programs. You'll still deliver on-time, but you may have to temporarily pause one program while finishing off another.There's no voodoo. Some of the results come from reduced multi-tasking and work in process. Subordinating other priorities to task flow in the critical path accomplishes the rest.An especially helpful feature of the book is that in addition to the steps to be taken, it also enumerates the observable impacts that will occur if the steps have been executed effectively. In other words, it answers the question "How can I know immediately if I did it right?"

Extremely useful. I just love it.

This is a must read for anybody that is thinking of implementing critical chain project management or that may have already done so and has not yet seen the full potential of the implementation.
