I rely on various places on the interwebs to give me ideas. I saw this and figured that I could make a good copy using pvc pipe, duct tape, single edges razors and WD-40 (automatically included on every project I undertake)After making a prototype and using a few days old leftover grilled hotdogs as test fingers, I concluded that to avoid continuous trips to the E.R. to reattach fingertips, that my efforts were not worth it.This is probably the best cutter thing that I have gotten to include in a "present basket" since I got a purple stick that is used for some sort of mysterious quilting incantation, so I surmise. (quilting witchcraft?)At any rate, if you purchase this for your quilter, they will probably be very very happy with it and and use it wisely for battling the forces of evil that sell imported quilts. (I am told this is a great evil about the land)In addition, it is a very nice purple color and the blade can be replaced as necessary. WD-40 is not needed!One thing that I did notice is that the base is weighted enough that it will not tip over when used.
