Very Good Value
Surprising quality for such an inexpensive fountain pen. No issues with it at all.

I really like this pen!
I really enjoy writing with this pen. The two flat notches for your thumb and index fingers to rest on make it really comfortable to hold while writing. While I am new to the fountain pen game, I can report that the Lamy Safari has a smooth nib that writes really well, even on paper that isn't perfectly smooth. I have a more expensive Cross fountain pen and this is easily a better pen. I'm still trying to decide whether I like the material from which the body of the pen is made. The Lamy website states that it's made from ABS plastic, which it a rather lightweight --but sturdy-- plastic. I can see the benefits of using this material (cost, hand fatigue, colors available) and the more I use the pen, the more I like it. I think I was just surprised because the other pens I've used were heavier and more robust. But it's easy to carry this pen and to use this pen on a daily basis because of its lightweight and inexpensive design. Another feature that is growing on me is the "spring action" metal clip. It's a large clip, but because of the round tip --the curve in the metal-- it slides into a pocket easily. Overall I give this a 5 star rating because if the blend of quality and affordability. Lamy pens are designed and made in Germany and I suspect that this could be a contributing factor to its quality and practical design. If you're a fan of fountain pens, or considering trying a fountain pen, start with this one.

Good starter pen, but it's not my go to pen
I got this for my first fountain pen and have been using it for about 3 or 4 months now. It is pretty light in the hand, so the weight is similar to other ballpoint pens (i.e. Pilot G-2 ballpoint). I like the cartridge refills it came with and the ink color is very nice. I go through ink pretty quickly, so I decided to get separate bottles of ink and a converter for this Lamy. The converter is Lamy brand and from the Lamy sellers. I am not crazy about the design of the converter for this particular pen. The converter has a rectangular twist mechanism for filling/emptying the converter and is thin and very fragile. Mine cracked my first use and I had to get a replacement. So although I like this pen itself, the brand's converter (not included) is a mark against it for me. As I said, I got this for my first fountain pen. I have since bought some others with different size nibs and different designs/brands. I like the width of letters/lines using this pen, but I will say that this Lamy is less comfortable to hold long-term (as a student, I write a LOT of notes) than my other pens. It works fine and the price is good and I still use it very frequently. But the triangular area where your fingers hold the pen is very tight and causes some strain in my hand. I have some wider/fatter fountain pens that are circular and easier to hold that I prefer to use. TL;DR pros- cheap, writes well, cartridge refills nice cons- uncomfortable to write with for extended time (fine for memos, not for novels), if opt to buy converter for ink bottle refill (cheaper long-term) Lamy Brand converter poor design

Great pen
Great sleek looking fountain pen. Cool lamy packaging and writes decently well. I’ve had problems with the fine tip feeling scratchy, however the ink flow is decent and it is incredibly light. It’s great to carry in your pocket.

Best Introductory Fountain Pen
After spending countless hours watching YouTube reviews and annoying my local stationary store employees I decided to finally purchase my first fountain pen. This pen, the Lamy Safari, was suggested by more sources than I could count as being the perfect beginners fountain pen; I can definitely understand why. First off, the pen is beautiful and a minimalists dream when you consider how crazy fountain pens can get. The F nib that’s included was exactly what I was looking for and has very little flex. The include nib is black, just like the pen itself. Rather than using the blue ink provided in the pen, I opted to switch it out for one of the black cartridges, and installation was a breeze. I can definitely see how purchasing replacement carts could become an issue, so I strongly suggest getting the piston mod and a bottle of ink. The pen writes like a dream, and my art instantly looked 23% better as soon as I began drawing with the Safari. I don’t think that Lamy can guarantee it’ll make you a better artist, but if it worked for me, it’ll work for you too. As all the other reviews say, beware of fakes! This one is the real deal though and I feel confident in my review! This pen won’t change your life, it’s just a pen. It’s an amazing pen though, and worth every penny!

Good beginner fountain pen
I'm just getting into fountain pens. This was my first, and I now have a Lamy Joy and a Montblanc Noblesse. You really can't go wrong with the Safari if you think you might want to try a fountain pen. The nibs don't do anything crazy, but you'll immediately understand the tactile feeling of a fountain pen over your typical ballpoint pens and cheap markers. I keep my Safari in my work vest, and the clip has such a fantastic design. It's easy to take out, put back, and it never falls out. Honestly, it's worth getting for that alone if a pen clip has ever even mildly frustrated you like they have to me.
