Has increased my positiveness during this pandemic. Started taking this on a suggestion. It does affect you digestion somewhat; in my case it caused loose stools for the first week but now my body is used to it and it has helped my mood. May also give slight head aches in the morning, but that may be due to being a night owl and fighting against the natural effect to sleep. Might suggest starting with a lower dose and increasing if necessary. Also taking Vitamin D3+K2/MK-4 supplement.

I found this to be very helpful when tapering off antidepressants! It does help with withdrawals. I trust this brand.

I have used different 5 HTP products but I keep coming back to this one. If you are new, try starting with the 100 mg strength and take it at bedtime to give your brain time to get used to it. If you feel anxious or depressed during the day, take another 100 mg. If you have any reaction it will be mild upset stomach. It will pass in 30 min. You might take it with food to be sure that your stomach can handle it. The goal is to, over time, allow it to build up in your system. I struggled with depression for years. I tried several different kinds of Rx drugs ALL with side effects. THIS is the best all natural product that I have ever used. I have used it now for over 10 years and I will not be without it. Go slow, allow it to build up but KEEP taking it over time. Just because you feel better, KEEP TAKING IT.

I have been taking NOW 5-htp for about two years now, and I can say that they have made a positive difference in my mood and sleep, but don't see any changes to my appetite. I take one pill at night right before bed. The directions recommend taking on an empty stomach, but I don't notice any difference taking the pill after I've eaten. I've tried the NOW 100 mg vs this NOW 200 mg and don't notice any difference. Since the price was quite similar, I decided to take this dosage going forward.
