I am an interested layperson, very motivated to learn about physics, about its history. This book managed to discourage me completely. I'm wondering if the authors ever thought about who would want to read this kind of book. Obviously not an expert in physics, since they would know everything about the history anyway. For laypeople like me, however, this book puts you off within the first 5 pages. Is there no physicist out there who can write about the history of physics in a way that is understandable for lay people? Yes, the subject is difficult, but that is the hallmark of a good teacher: being able to explain a difficult subject in a manner so that laypeople can understand. ... something this book does NOT do.
