Well made and sturdy. Holds a thick book in place. Very nice design. Bought it as a gift and it is very pretty. My husband loves it and uses it every day.

Learners/researchers of all types working with books and/or computers -- do yourself a favor. You may not even realize how much you need one of these -- it will make life so much more pleasant! I originally bought it because trying to read a textbook on a flat surface, i am often confronted by glare off the pages from lights. But putting your books or even your laptop on a stand is also better for your back/posture, creates more workspace on your table, and makes study reading even more pleasurable. As for this particular one -- get the biggest size. You will always make use of the extra real estate, trust me. The decorative design is sweet. The stand on the back is sturdy enough even for big textbooks, as ditto regarding the hinged, folding shelf the book will sit on. I can take notes in my books on the stand without problem. It is sturdy. The shelf is also wide enough to hold big books comfortably, even without using the page holds. This is a simple design yet accomplishes all you need a bookstand to do, in my opinion. You will thank yourself for getting one.

It makes me so happy when I purchase something and it turns out to be better than what I thought. I’m using this to hold my recipe books when I’m cooking. I got so tired of having to keep my cookbooks away from the area where I’m cooking and going back-and-forth reading it and cooking. This greatly solves all my problems. It holds your books in place no matter the size of the cookbook! Those little metal arms hold the pages open so perfectly . The workmanship is beautiful and everything works really well. There’s different slots in the back for the different angles you want your cookbook (book) to be standing, and it’s very sturdy. Very easy adjustment .No worries about your book slipping, or any neck pain from having to look down while you read. It’s so easy to use and such a wonderful tool for the kitchen. So easy for me to read my recipes as I’m cooking and I don’t have to worry about my book getting dirty or being on the counter. I do make a mess when I cook, now there’s no worry about my cookbook.

When will I learn to check the measurements on things I purchase on Amazon? I like the look, the feel of the wood, I like the two little "handles" that adjust and hold my bible in place. I thought it was bigger, but that's my error for not checking the measurements. Keeping it, not returning.

If you are looking for a sturdy book stand that will hold full sized textbooks and smaller, this is a decent choice. The bamboo is sturdy, components are simple (almost no plastic) and any tweaks like loose screws should be an easy enough fix. I would have wanted a solid back rather than decorative cutouts. I could do without snag points or breaking points. But I was willing to tolerate it for the large dimensions. The spring clips are flexible and strong, although if someone is careless I'm sure they could be bent beyond their elastic limit (permanently). The way they came, the clips will provide tension on anything from several hundred pages thick down to a single page without damaging the book or themselves. The ends are covered in vinyl for protection, but anyone could wrap one in a rubber band if they ever lose a covering. I think I loctited the screws, and may even have superglued a screw as one screw hole was too generous, or I superglued one side of the hinge directly in place - I can't remember. Be aware with this design, if you pull the backrest of the book holder towards you, you will disengage metal bar from its slot which holds it in place. So you either have to handle the book only, or do what I did: once you find the angle you like that works for your desk, use a rubber band or zip ties to keep it there. This is large, not optimal for a backpack, but works very well for desks / tables to reduce glare and keep a decent posture when reading.

Book stand is exactly as depicted on Amazon website. I purchased the medium size. I’ve been meaning to get a decent stand as my iPad has the annoying habit of flopping flat onto the counter, usually right in the middle of a recipe. This book stand is very sturdy and handles iPad, as well as regular cookbooks, very well. The two magnetic holders are very sturdy and can handle my thickest cookbook (which is about 1-1/2” thick and 8x9-1/2” closed and 15-1/2” wide open.) With the back stand down it takes up 9” in depth when used on the counter, this is including the front clips. It’s pretty enough to keep out as display, but I did not want to waster the counter space so I decided to hang it on wall. I nailed in a sawtooth picture hanger and put it up with two nails to keep it level. The only thing that would improve it would be if it came in a few different stain colors as I prefer more of a darker finish. If 2021 becomes as boring as 2020 I might stain it myself. PS For those who commented that the sides were rough, yes it could use a light sanding if you’re in the habit of grabbing the sides to pick up or move it about. Nothing too dramatic and a quick 5 minute project if it bothers you.

I am learning how to play my husband's guitar and needed a stand my music books. Made of beautiful sturdy bamboo that is carved into a lovely design. The stand sits nicely on a side table, saving space. There are 2 sturdy metal clips in the front on the bottom edge that swing upward to hold your sheet or music book in place securely. The back of the stand has an adjustable wooden piece that smoothly folds down to secure a metal holder to whatever position you desire. I really appreciate the quality, design, sturdiness, compactness, and price of this design. Highly recommend!
