Ideal for grades PreK-2, the First Little Readers Parent Pack is a wonderful investment in your child's literacy journey, ensuring they have fun while learning to read—one page at a time! Review: Excellent for beginning readers! - I ordered all 3 sets of these books for my Kindergartner. He already recognizes a bunch of sight words and I wanted to get a great collection of books that would give him lots of practice and lots of success! I taught reading enrichment classes to early readers for ~9 years, so I knew what I was looking for; these are perfect for getting a youngster started! Another reviewer complained that the sets did not differ in difficulty from A to B to C, but I have to disagree. In my picture, a book from set A is at the top, set B in the middle, and set C at the bottom. All three are alike in their simple sentence structure, but there are key differences. Set A books use a very short sentence, usually with only one word changing per page. This lets the child read independently, recognizing the pattern and using visual clues to figure out unknown words, thereby experiencing a lot of success and feeling pride in their reading skills. Set B uses slightly longer sentences or even two sentences per page, and the words that change frequently have more syllables. The pictures still help with figuring it out, though, so your child can move through the text comfortably, learning to not be intimidated by long words (very important!). Set C books seem to focus on words that have challenging phonics elements (like "grew" -- not an easy word to sound out until you've learned that digraph, which usually happens sometime in mid 1st grade) or longer and more diverse sentences with multi-syllabic words. Don't get me wrong; these books are little half steps in the reading process and are all early-mid Kindergarten level, but in setting up your child for success -- giving them confidence and the willingness to try -- these early experiences are crucial! I am very pleased with the purchase and am excited for my kid to try them. P.S. Other people reported getting some duplicates in their boxes; I did not. Seems to be random. Perhaps if you get a duplicate the seller could send you the right one.

Wonderful learning resource that's fun and easy to handle
These little books (and they are little: see pics for scale next to my adult hand on my fullsize keyboard) are a wonderful learning resource that came highly recommended by my son's kindergarten teacher. We bought the "C" box, and she said that the goal was to have our son able to read "C" or "D" level books with almost no mistakes by the end of kindergarten. The topics are little kid friendly: bugs, dinosaurs, making pizza. Words repeat often for the kiddo to gain confidence. There are a lot of "sight words" throughout, which is also a great help. Note: these are 8-page little books with one sentence per page. They're perfect for learning to read, going slowly. Perfect for little hands. Sometimes we cover the pictures up for the first read-through because our son was guessing words instead of sounding out letters. After one or two read-throughs, he's memorizing the sentences, so we are prepared to pass these on to another family as soon as he's done reading through them all a few times. Basically, these are not "keepers"; they're a tool for learning to sound out words and read sentences. For the price, I think they're really worth that! We made a homemade Advent Calendar with big used envelopes from a caligrapher friend (but standard greetingcard envelopes would work, these are such small books). See pics for that, too. We put one book in each of the envelopes, and our son is SO excited to open up a new little book and slowly work though the reading process every single morning. He even made us video him reading them a second or third time for his [remote school] teacher.

Great value for money
My kids absolutely love reading these level books. I love the stories that are inside each box, they are all unique and actually fun to read. A favorite of ours was the funny foods book in this level c set. We used these books daily and still bring them out for fun every now and again to read to the little ones. I highly recommend these books!

My son loves these! 25 short stories that keep his attention and fun to read. These are his first books and he is very proud of the ability to read. I can't be happier about my purchase.

My son was a voracious beginner reader and school dont give him enough practice reading so we’ve been buying anything we can. These are fairly cheap and tacky but we’re after quantity not quality. Now he’s developed enough to be reading the doctor Seuss books but these were a great little cheap and cheerful stepping stone to build his confidence and now his little brother can use them while he’s learning too.
