Tips: - Make sure to hold it in the correct direction. Your hand should be on the side with the thinnest wall with the "g" in the correct orientation. The arch should be facing your mouth. - Instructions say to hold the object and not bite down on it. I agree. Hold it with your fingers, open your mouth and tilt the product into your mouth. This gives a nice stretch without any tooth pressure. Biting down is not good for your jaw. - Look up massages for TMJ. My PT said even heating up the muscles and then stretching the jaw might be even more effective. I haven’t had jaw pain in a while, only some clicks when yawning sometimes. I’ve been working on tongue placement to support my jaw at rest, which I think has helped. My mouth opening though has been so sadly limited for over 2 years so I finally went to a PT. She told me to work on my posture - back straight, chin in! She taught me how to do massage both the muscle at the jaw and higher up at the temples. And she told me to put something in my mouth to stretch the soft tissue in the joint, and to increase the size of the object little by little..she didn’t know about this product. It’s exactly what I need. Just after about 2 days I can literally see the increase in opening! $80 well spent! It's expensive but I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the design. Made in USA in clean rooms, the little case, the very small increments, the scale.. Can use FSA funds. Worth it. I hope to eat a burger one day without it being a total disaster. Update: 4 days in, I went from the small to the medium size! Product improvement idea: Add measurement ranges on each piece.

Only had this for a few days but I am already seeing results. I used the smallest mouth piece for the first day and then started using the medium size stretching tool on day 2. I have suffered for many years with TMJ issues and recently have wound up with my back teeth cracking and I’ve had such severe tmj pain that it has caused me to have trouble sleeping and daily headaches/pain. I don’t know why it took me so long to look for a device like this but I really thought that it was over priced for what it is and that I could just do the stretches without a special tool, however this has not only reminded me to actually do the exercises but it’s also guided me on how far to stretch and having the mouth piece in helps me to not have to actively engage the muscles while stretching so I’m able to relax them and get a good stretch. Even with the small amount of relief I’ve gotten with just using for a few days I can already say it is totally worth the cost I expect I will continue to see even better results and I’m excited for the day that I am finally completely pain free. This is by far one of my best Amazon buys.

First of all, this product works great. I’m still mad at it though, for two reasons. One, it should be in the $30-$40 price range and even then would still have huge profit margins. This is ridiculously expensive. It does work though and between this and an electric heat mask I wrap around my jaw it is keeping my jaw tightness in check and in turn limiting migraines. They need a size bigger though. As soon as I got it, I’m already at the tip of the biggest size and that is with my jaw very tight. I have to use my finger between the top side and my teeth to get more of a stretch. Not ideal. So yeah it does help a lot with tmj. Doesn’t make it any less painful to pay this much for it, especially when I have to jerry rig it to a bigger size.

This is the first time I have ever written a review but if there is anyone out there suffering in the way that I was, I'd never forgive myself for not attempting to point them in the direction to relief. So here it goes: For the past couple of years, I've been getting ocular migraines more and more frequently. They last for days and are. Absolutely. Debilitating. I have not been officially diagnosed with TMJ but have an irrational fear of the dentist and stupidly have avoided going back for years even though the last time I went, they suspected TMJ. I have not even used this product consistently in the way they recommend (5-6 times a day) - I intended to, but just kept forgetting about it...until today...I felt those beginning signs of the migraine setting in: a strained feeling of pain in my neck that creeps up to my jaw and slowly spreads around my eye - which will then turn into debilitating pressure behind my eye - sending me to my room to lay in my bed, drawing every shade, turning off every light, and wrapping my head with a face mask to block any possible chance of light invading my throbbing eye. So back to today - it begins, those dreaded beginning stages of pain, and I curse myself for not having consistently used the expensive little pieces of plastic like I promised myself I would...to at least justify spending cash like that. Why am I like this??!!? Out of desperation though, I popped the medium sized one in (that little one must be for someone with severe tmj issues - I can't imagine not being able to comfortably open my mouth that wide - how would you even eat??) not even with hope for the impending migraine but with promises to myself to keep up with it enough to try and prevent the next one from occuring...BUT!! within seconds, RELIEF!! Stopped that migraine dead in it's tracks!! I couldn't believe it! I held it in place for a little over the recommended 30 seconds, probably closer to a minute, for fear that once I removed it the pain would come back...nope!! An hour later, I felt the beginning of the ocular pain starting to circle around my eye - not bad, but just that little beginning bit that prompts me to cancel all my plans for the day. Dang! Too good to be true, I thought, but went ahead and popped the medium one back in and held it for 30 seconds, boom, gone! So, all in all, I have not used the product as instructed (though I have all the intentions of doing so after today's miracle), I have avoided medical help with this issue (also not recommended by manufacturer), and I only have this one experience of today to draw upon. I don't at all recommend doing as I have, medical advice should come from doctors not Amazon reviewers, but I can't just sit here in amazement and not share my experience because like I said before - if anyone is suffering like I have (wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy) I'd never forgive myself for not saying something that might make it stop. This might just be the thing that helps you too. I truly hope that for you.

For $80 not only should you get a case that stays closed, you should get a case for each size. Good product, ridiculous price and low quality case.

I have been suffering from right sided temporal headaches for the past few years. Each episode usually lasts for a few weeks. I have tried almost everything like neurologist, acupuncture, chiropracty, neuromuscular dentistry etc. The thing that was a miss or hit was always acupuncture. But the recent episode lasted for more than 2 months and acupuncture did not help. With my own research, I believed that my headache was result of my Jaw tension. Finally, as part of my research, I came across this amazing tiny device and the moment I started using it, the headache that was troubling me for more than 2 months straight disappeared. I use it for 30 seconds every 2 hours and it has been over a month now and no more headaches!! Unbelievable that such a small device can do wonders.

Really great product. Yes it feels quite expensive for what it is, but considering I've tried everything to stop clenching my jaw. This was well worth the money. I've been having botox in my jaw muscles for last few years, which worked really well until covid hit and I wasn't able to get it done. Botox is really good at forcing your jaw to relax but since taking it up again in 2021 it hasn't helped as much. Each visit is costing me $650 au (every 6 months) and it's not working like it used to. Using the Gental Jaw has actually been helping more than the botox and its a one off cost. If you get jaw pain, headaches, tooth pain, neck pain, and not sleeping well this product will likely really help. I often forget to do it as after a few days of using it, I forget about the jaw pain.

As someone who suffers from migraines and has been “clencher and grinder” for as long as I can remember, I can honestly say that I’ve tried EVERYTHING I could imagine to help with jaw pain and associated neurological symptoms. While wearing a splint at night is helpful for preventing further damage to my teeth, I was still left with muscle relaxants, pain medication, massage and acupuncture to deal with the consequences of the grinding and clenching. Meds certainly have their place in treatment, but longterm massage was moderately helpful at best (and painful to the point that tears would run down my cheeks), and accupuncture/IMS occasionally helped somewhat, but not enough to justify the cost. I recognized that even during waking hours I was holding a lot of tension in my jaw, clenching all day, and I desperately craved release from this constant source of pain. I spent a couple of years trying out different DIY options to hold my jaw open and allow myself to relax and even purchased a number of different sized bite blocks and balls to attempt to get this healthy stretch. Sadly, the bite blocks were never the exact size my jaw needed, and became very slippery and unwieldy to use safely. To add to this, trying mouth-sized rubber balls was quickly left behind as they could so easily slip onto the inside of the teeth and become a breathing/choking hazard. Fast forward to me finding Gentle Jaw… Honestly, this little gizmo is a game changer. It comes with the little case meaning it can survive the depths of purses and pockets, and I can literally pop it into place for a quick stretch anywhere… driving, before and after sleeping, at work, etc. It’s such a quick, momentary little stretch but doing them regularly throughout the day and whenever I realize I’m clenching helps A LOT. First and foremost, it prevents the tension from continuing to build, which is everything. But secondly, and most satisfyingly, it brings INSTANT relief and can stop many of my migraines dead in their tracks! Because Amazon allows returns and I knew that if I bought it and didn’t like it I could get my money back, I took a risk and went for it. Now I honestly don’t think I can afford to live without it. The amount of pain, hardship, money, and time that my jaw pain stole from life on a regular basis was far more costly than this little miracle, and while some people may balk at the price as I did initially, I can say with 100% honestly that it is 100% worth every penny. This little marvel of engineering should be known and recommended by oral health and migraines/neuro professionals everywhere as, to me, a non-chemical pain reliever that not only works but helps to solve the root cause of the pain, is beyond precious. As a side note, I also wanted to mention that I reached out to the Gentle Jaw team as I had a few questions, and they were amazing to deal with. 100%… if you or a loved one suffers from jaw tension, clenching, grinding, or migraines, BUY THIS PRODUCT. It the absolute tiniest cost to pay to get your life back.

I was in a bad fire almost 2 yrs ago, burnt off my face, did a lot of damage to my arms. To recover after getting skin grafts on the face, one of the exercises is wedging (sometimes hammering) increasing amounts of popsicle sticks into your mouth. This was damaging my mouth, my teeth etc to the point that it was difficult for me to do it, then I came across this device, which looked very simular to the type of mouth wedging that I'd been doing with the popsicle sticks. It arrived and did exactly that, stretched the skin on my face enough, didn't have to wedge more sticks in, this let you gradually increase the tension using your mouth muscles only, it does exactly what it is intended for. I bought a second one on here to donate to another person whom has burns/facegrafts silimar to mine so the don't have to suffer the way I did. I have my mouth back because of this device. 10/10

My dentist recommended the gentle jaw for my TMJ since I clench and grind my teeth, and have been in a lot of pain for quite some time. I have been using the gentle jaw several times a day as recommended and, wow, what relief! I was a little skeptical since I thought there was something wrong with my bite, but it turned out it really was muscle pain. I also learned I have to keep my teeth apart during the day. Who knew?! Take the time to read the directions. They aren’t very long but I found them very useful. I don’t usually write reviews but I wanted to share my incredible experience with this simple device.
