I've tried a few different lemon extracts. For my tastebuds, the Olive Nation is very bitter/harsh, with absolutely NO Lemon taste. I see they remove the terpinine, but that (limonene in lemons) is what gives the lemon flavor and scent! Hence, no lemon flavor in Olive Nation lemon extract. Per my reasearch, the limonene/terpinene in lemons provide some benefits. Of course, this is when consumed in small quantity. Extracts fit in that category when used as a flavor enhancer!

Bought this as a boost for bottled lemon juice when I don’t have fresh lemons on hand. Sorry to say don’t like it at all. The flavor has many notes, some of them even citrus, but mostly harsh and bitter. It’s more like extract of lemon pith, which is not what you want at all. The ingredients just list oil of lemon and alcohol in addition to water, but the alcohol has a strong taste of its own even when diluted in a quart of water. Not recommended.

The orange extract has absolutely NO orange flavor. It smells wonderful, but provided no flavor, and even prevented a flavor added later from working. I feel cheated - cheap discount store extracts have done a better job. I am so disappointed as I bought this as a special treat to myself thinking it would be more flavorful than the grocery store brand. I used three times as much as I would normally and there was no detectable orange flavor.

Do not buy purchased this and it was expired by the time I ordered it smh! I hate that I’m just now realizing it! I want a refund put the window has closed already!

Totally deceptive. Please, please do not buy. It's a waste of money and time. The bottle I received listed the Lemon Extract ingredients as follows: alcohol, water, some type of chemical that was partly rubbed off the label and then oil of lemon. Exactly in that order. Needless to say the bottle's content reeked of alcohol, therefore useless. The Item on the Amazon site that I ordered had Oil of Lemon as the 1st ingredient. How deceptive and immoral is that of OliveNation. Do not Buy!

Purchased this for a recipe that called for orange extract, not orange oil. I should have just used orange oil. When I opened this bottle, it smelled good, but had very little flavor. I had to add almost the whole bottle when the recipe called for 2 tsp. I ended up making my own makeshift orange extract on top of it by adding orange peel pressed through cheesecloth. I’m guessing that’s how I really got the orange flavor in my truffles.

So far, I only have used this to naturally flavor my shortbread cookies. I have tasted several items over the years and especially think of those orange shaped sliced chocolate treats sold around Christmas, so decided to flavor my shortbread cookies with both this product, a squeezed half an orange, the rinds of a whole orange (I eat the other half) and a bag of dark chocolate chips. Delicious 😋. This is my second purchase of Olive Nation orange extract and am sure there will be more. No reason to change and price is competitive.

I was hesitant to buy a larger bottle at first because I had read some reviews regarding a clear bottle and a decrease in quality from OliveNation, so I bought the smallest container to try it out. I encourage you to ignore the previous review about there being alcohol in the extract: all extracts are suspended in alcohol- normally an pure fruit oil and alcohol mixture. Anyways, the extracts were well packaged and shipped quickly. I was pleased to find that the 4 oz container is tinted glass and the aroma is superb. I have used the extract in various baked goods and it provides a lovely hint of lemon. The only con about this item is that it is very subtle. I need to add what seems to me to be a lot of extract to get the dominate lemon flavor in things like lemon poppy seed muffins. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who is in short supply of fresh lemon juice. This makes an excellent substitution.
