This is my 3rd Sharky III fishing reel. They cast great, smooth retrieval and the drag is very easy to get the perfect setting when you get that big one on.

I expected a bit better Quality. It's not bad but it's no Pflueger. It's not lighter or smoother than my Pflueger for about the same money. The line stacking has a slight taper to the bottom. I had one miss winding where the lose line went under the spool. It was easily repaired by unscrewing the drag and removing the spool, but it cut into my lure in the water time. The finish was top notch. Drag adjustment was good.

I’m been a shimano guy since 1985. My grandkids and wife are hard on their equipment so I’m often replacing mid level shimano reels. breaks my heart to see em trashed up. A buddy of mine told me about these so I gave it a try. got some for the kids and wife. Have lasted 3x as long and still going. One day I had to reel in my wife’s rod because she was busy with the grand kids. To my surprise the reel was still functioning like it was rt out of the box, it was all scratched up but still felt nice. When my Stradic CI4 finally went out after 10yrs I bought a SHARKY III. Now I personally have 3 SHARKY III on different rods.

I have two Sharky III reels, 1000 and 2000 size for ultralight and light action fishing. The overall design/shape, craftsmanship, smoothness of operation and sturdiness are very good. I like the reels. There is however a design flaw where when casting or letting the line go limp while fishing in wind the line can unknowingly and easily wind behind the spool when retrieving. This happend 2 times with each reel on one trip. Each time I had to remove the spool and spend a lot of time unwinding the line off the shaft. I also use Penn reels 2 different models (Conflict II 3000 and Battle III 4000) and Piscifun 2 different models sizes (Carbon X 500 & 1000) and Captain (2000, 3000, 4000). I haven't experienced the same situation on these reels. I won't buy the Kastking Sharky III again and will eventually replace these.

Just got the reel. Haven't even put line on it yet. First impression is it is a well built reel for the price. But if it is like Kast King's other products, it should work better than advertised. Time will tell if it cast and performs as well as my favorite reels ( Okuma Helios, Shimano Sedona). The only thing so far that I don't like is that the handle has hollow section that if dropped, it could be a weak point. And it is designed to screw in the reel body, rather than having a shaft that run through and attaches on the other side. This would stop the handle from un-screwing itself. Not a deal breaker, but a possibly a point of concern. Honestly if it cast well, the drags are smooth and the handle doesn't give problems. I'll be more than satisfied.
