Holy Bible NLT, Personal Size Large Print edition (Red Letter, Bonded Leather, Black)

I am so pleasantly surprised with this bible. The large print, at 12 pt font, is very readable with even my cheap dollar store 150 magnification readers. The size is very much more compact than my NLT Life Application Study Bible. While not a thinline or pocket bible by no means it is easily held in the lap, and not so heavy that your arms get fatigued during long periods of reading. The print is surprising dark, darker than my study bible, and combined with the opaque enough paper makes for a pleasant reading experience. I'm very happy with this bible, especially considering the price. Be aware that at the time I ordered there were two of these teal colored bibles that looked identical except for a $5.00 price difference. The one that I attempted to order, and did indeed receive was the one that was $5.00 more, has thumb index indents for the chapters, and had a more recent publishing date than the $5 cheaper teal NLT personal size bible.

I have a Life Application version of the Bible, but I tend to get bogged down in all the commentary. Plus it's too large for me to carry around with my cane or scooter! I found a site online that let's you see one verse in about 6 versions. ESV is a language I can understand, and it's is so compact I can put in my purse. You'd think the large print would make it even more "bulky" but this Bible fits in the palm of my hand. There are thumbnails along the edges to help you find books quickly. I can take it with me , and the size and beautiful cover get comments that are an opening for me to witness! And when I'm home doing my daily devotions, I can still use my LAB for deep study. The cover is soft dark leather with pastel pink decoration on the bottom right. I have to admit I was worried it would turn out to be a hot pink corner, but this is a cover I am proud to show wherever I may be. If you are looking for something small to fit in a purse or briefcase this is the one for you!

I had recently been using a bible I received as a gift in 1982 for personal devotions and it was getting too worn out. I was looking for a newer translation and one with larger print as these old eyes didn't need help 38 years ago but do today. I just love this New Living Translation bible. There were several reviews that had raised concerns for me and at first made me hesitant to purchase this excellent bible. One mentioned the poor quality of the bonded leather. My cover is just fine and I can only assume they received a defective one which can happen. Another review commented about the dots at the top of the page. They merely go from the page number at the top of the page on the left across to the book and chapter of the bible. They're very unobtrusive and I don't experience them as a problem. One of the strangest comments mentioned there were small crosses at the end of some sentences or paragraphs and they thought that was wrong. They must not have read the "Introduction to the New Living Translation" article at the front of the bible where it clearly states: "Many NLT bibles include an additional short-reference system that sets key cross references at the end of paragraphs and then marks the associated verses with a cross symbol." So yes, it is there. The miniature cross may appear at the end of a sentence or the end of a paragraph but at the end of that paragraph it always lists a helpful cross-reference. It's too bad that reviewer didn't take the time to read the materials at the front of the bible. I have found the footnotes to be very insightful and helpful. For example, in the footnote for the name "Eve" it is noted that it sounds like a Hebrew term that means "to give live." Even though this bible was written to sound like modern conversational speech it is still very faithful to the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greeks texts scriptures. Male dominated language of the ancient world which would have actually included women and children as well has been changed to make "brothers" into "brothers and sisters" which is more typical of the way we speak today. Another helpful example is that in the NLT when referring to Roman soldiers it reads "Roman officer" instead of "Roman centurion" which has no frame of reference for today. Money is changed from the way it was noted in ancient times into the value of it using American dollars. Also, times were translated into modern equivalents and measures were turned into modern equivalents. It really is a wonderful bible for personal devotions. Like me, I believe you'll really find it a blessing.

This Bible is really nice in every way! This is a personal size NLT large print bible that is easy to carry. The cover is nice and the text size is the best I have seen for a large print, really easy to read! The NLT translation makes reading the bible fun and brings understanding to God's Word. When you read the NLT it is like talking with a friend, using English words we use every day. This needs to be one of the Bibles you have in your collection, try it you will like it!

Love this Bible for the youth at my church. It deals with a variety of issues that concern teens today in the first few pages. It is small and comfortable to carry. I love the cover and what it says "You are Loved" it could be a little thicker. Paper is lightweight. Print is small... suggest it for younger eyes. Definetly a great bible at a amazing price! Wish they had a hardcover version. Will order be ordering more. My first order came beat up but I called amazon and they helped right away. This is a very beautiful made Bible. The size, thickness, font size, black bonded leather cover are all excellent and very comfortable. The pages are gilded in silver and the thumb index tabs have black letters on a white base. The Bible arrives in a nice sturdy box which can be preserved for storage also. It is an excellent Bible at this price point. Add to that the reliable and easily understandable NLT version and you have a winner ! With God's grace and reasonable use, this Bible would last a very long time and provide endless hours of study and reflection. All books have a shot but useful introduction and footnotes of the NLT version are available at bottom of the page. There are a few references, not too many, but enough. Also, there is a Bible Dictionary / Concordance which gives meanings of words and the Bible passage in which they occur. This includes some archaic KJV words which are identified as such. Last but not the least there are some beautiful full color maps ! I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to purchase a quality NLT Bible.

My pastor gave me a Living Bible when I was young. I appreciated its paraphrasing, making it easy to understand. But I wasn't too interested in the faith at that time. Well fast forward many, many years and when I looked at my bookshelves, the Living Bible cam into view. I opened it up, started reading, and now I cannot stop reading. I starting longing got the updated NLT Bible, since the latter represents a major revision of the Living Bible. I received this bible from Amazon and I am impressed. Excellent-quality 12 point printing, not too much bleedthrough of printing from the backsides of pages, you get gilding (gold coloring on the edges of the paper), an introduction to each book in the bible so that you know who wrote that book, when it was written, and what the book is about (that feature alone is priceless). The NLT translation is wonderful; I can enjoy the thought-for-thought translation and the eloquent quality of the writing. The two-column printing and serified font are easy on the eyes, and having large print making reading the bible more engaging since you spend less time on the physical act of reading and more time on comprehension. I also but the bigger, 14-point NLT bible but the latter doesn't have the introductions to each chapter. I actually find thr 12 point size to be sufficiently large as to provide enough reading comfort. I love this bible, and I love that it has motivated me to read the bible!

I purchased this large print bible because I have recently been ill and I wasn't able to see my bible very well. I am absolutely delighted with my purchase. The cover is nice and flexible, the paper has a wonderful feel about it, and the print is absolutely great. I can read it perfectly. Thank you very much for such a great product.

Well made bible with large print. Easy to read and I expect will outlast me. Good value for money. Love it.
