Great watch. Looks very elegant, nice weight and size. I have a couple of ‘luxury’ watches but still love to wear this pretty often actually. Haven’t tried it, but bet it looks great on a vintage leather or nato strap too

Truly great watch from Seiko.

I have thought numerous times about buying a Seiko Alpinist and gone to and fro over the last year. Thankfully Seiko brought the SRPE 5 line out and made the decision for me. It also saved me 500 pounds into the bargain. This watch is not an Alpinist but it comes very close indeed. The fit and finish is very good, the polished surfaces are done well and the dial is a deep, lustrous black. The lume is typical Seiko Lumibrite and glows brightly. The automatic and hand winding both work well and timekeeping is +/- 10 seconds daily. The bracelet is a different matter though - its a bit lightweight and a bit jangly. It adjusts with simple push pins (no pin and collar nonsense) and its easy to do. I thought for another 20 pounds or so Seiko could have done a much better job and it cries out for a Miltat or Uncle Seiko swap. The whole watch has a Tudor Black Bay 41 feel and look to it and I like it a lot - the 40mm case is spot on and for watch modders there are already loads of bezel/hand sets available. Seiko has a winner on its hands.

This Seiko 5 is a bridge between casual sports /smart everyday watch and it fits that perfectly, the lume when full burned with a touch for 30seconds lasts most of the night and keeps good time -5seconds p/d However the supplied Seiko watch strap is totally rubbish, folded links with wedge gaps in the middle that I can put my finger nail into is quite frankly piss poor quality, a bone of contention with Seiko that has gotten worse over the years, penny pinching is very disappointing. All is not lost since this watch is begging to be put on a very different watch band and that’s what I’ve done, a Vintage Bond NATO and looks very snazzy for it, arguably that’s the point of this watch you are supposed to put different bands on it dress it up or dress it down hence the drilled lugs. For the supplied naff band I’ve given 4/5 stars.

Absolutely love this watch. The size is perfect. Love the colour. The movement is also really good and has very slow time slippage, over 2 months without losing more than a minute. However the shiny silver on the top bezel does scratch easily. Either keep it safe or use it as an everyday day beater watch. For me it's the perfect every day watch that I don't mind getting a scuffed.

Wears settle but not ostentatious suitable with many outfits, not too large on the wrist, takes a fews hours till you forget your wearing a watch. The bracelet is ok not perfect but for the price you can’t complain if you want better replacement bracelets; uncle seiko does fantastic bracelets. I would recommend this watch for anyone looking to buy they first automatic watch can’t go wrong. Only wish I would like one in gold as I just find out my skin colour suits with gold beautiful. Mon unique légère déception était la taille du cadran . Je l'imaginais plus large . Cependant je m'y suis fait assez rapidement et peut être que c'était la bonne dimension pour mon poignet. Sinon est une montre très élégante . Je la porte casi tout les jours

Seiko automatic movement, 39 mm , 44 mm lug to lug, comfortable to wear. Seiko should try new dial colors like green, Braun, silver and sapphire glass for this model. Luminosity is great. I definitely recommend this watch.

Voor de rest valt hier weinig over te zeggen. Correcte levering, alleen een kleine fout inzake het uurwerk zelf.
