so good. I have been able to determine both silver ...
I'm a total newbie to this stuff. Using the instruction sheet that came with the kit, plus, watching some youtube video's, I got a 'feel' for the testing process. So far, so good. I have been able to determine both silver and gold content. One note to the company that sent me the kit (Bella Findings House).... the bottle of silver testing acid needed to be poked with a needle. The bottle nozzle was either sealed or clogged. IOW, when I tried to squeeze a drop of acid onto the stone, NOTHING! A simple needle poke opened the nozzle. The other 5 bottles didn't have this minor issue. A few comments I can add to those getting into the 'metal testing' process. Consider getting a large stone. The stone I received with this kit is 2" x 2". It works fine, but, I'd prefer to have a larger stone. With a larger stone you can do more tests without acids running into each other. Also, think about buying either testing needles or small files. Reasons: you may want to test jewelry without making a visible mark on the item. Using a file you can create exposed metal in an inconspicuous area and drop the acid into this area -- versus rubbing your jewelry onto hard stone creating a visible mark on your beloved item. Testing needles seems to be a good idea as well to get your 'testing' chops together.

Good stuff
Accidentally ordered two sets, but for the price I decided to keep them both. Oddly enough, one of them came in a basic zip lock bag and the other in a very nice and neat box. Same products, but anyway, they have already proven me wrong. I just knew from all the other test, that I had found a rather large gold cross. One place said, nope, just plated. No way, number two, nope, junk. Come on, but before I was going to a jeweler, I wanted to find out just how much it was really worth and prove these hock-it stores wrong. Meanwhile, back at the trash can, these testers work quite well. A little too well sometimes. Good stuff.

I love this !!
I received my order today, on time once again, thank you for that too, so the first thing i did was got all my treasured jewelry out and started testing my gold items and silver and , most real, some not. Well its just like they would do at a pawn shop or a jewelers that buy gold and silver, i love it so much, this is not only kool for the price, its just down right fun too. Remember follow directions that are enclosed, so you do it to manufactures specs, that's why they include them. So to all have fun but also be very careful, these are acids you are working with, i personally use safety glass , cause you never know and i also use an old wooden cutting board that i don't use for food, you don't want to get acid on anything you would regret harming, like furniture, counter tops, etc.....

ok need better user guide info
i would give all 5 stars, but the poor written up user guide does not explain or mention any where what color the test expect to see. ex: if the item is fake, what color the liquid it turn into and same goes with real item test result. that would be much easier to tell. 2nd, make sure you need to wear a glove before use the Acid test to prevent damage on the skin. other than that, everything are pretty good

Long-buried Ring Found by Metal Detector is Sterling Silver!
This metals testing kit worked just as advertised. I tested it with some gold and silver samples of known purity and with some "junk jewelry". The kit easily identified the real precious metals and verified their likely purity. Then I tested it on a ring that I had found with my metal detector. Once I cleaned the ring up I could see where it had been cut and re-sized to a smaller size, so I thought it must be worth something. The kit identified it as sterling silver. My only suggestion is that the company include a white scratch stone as well as a black one since the silver test solution is a dark color and the change from its natural color to red for fine silver is a little difficult to see.

Came as described
Came with everything needed to test just about any jewelry you would run into. Would of been nice if it came with something besides the box to keep it in. Over all satisfied with my order.
