I’m a guy reviewing this lol
I had a bissel pro heat carpet cleaner for 6 years it lasted way longer than expected and was going through a divorce renting a condo with 2 dogs, it worked great eventually after years of frequent use it began to fall apart. Had to 2 dogs one wasn’t very potty trained despite dog training classes I was constantly cleaning up wet spots and put months of use on the previous carpet shampooer. The bissel carpet shampooer survived 2 separate marriages until finally falling apart a month ago my wife also uses the new carpet shampooer- we got a the pet xl one because since getting remarried my wife adopted cats and the 2 previous dogs have since passed and we have 2 shelter rescues who are potty trained but track in mud plus a 19 month old toddler if that gives you an idea so we use this new carpet cleaner multiple times a week. It’s still a beast in every way heavy and way less maintenance as of now, I like how the spot cleaner isn’t fixed on the carpet cleaner and is separate. The bissel pro heat spot cleaner hose was always falling off the mount cumbersome and we didn’t like it; glad they changed the design. Someone said the tanks are milk carton thin and they must’ve been delirious since the tanks are at least 3mm thick and sturdy so i completely disagree and i almost chose not to buy it based on that review. This carpet clean is solid and it doesn’t need a water heater on the unit itself because you use it after you fill the tank shortly thereafter and having a heater on it is more of an unnecessary expense. I’m a satisfied bissel customer and as a guy I am impressed with its ability to clean deep pet stains or baby food off the carpets. Zero complaints it’s easy to use easy to clean and bissel did a great job changing the design since the proheat bissel was a pain to fill and empty the dirty water.

Much better than my Hoover Power dash Pet!
We bought this shampooer after the Hoover power dash pet one died. After taking it apart we realize there was a flaw in that design and allowed water to get into the motor. So we purchased this one and was quite surprised at how much more solution it held! Especially since it wasn't very much bigger than the Hoover. The carry handle is in the perfect spot in the middle making it easy to lift. The solution container is a really great size for this size of shampooer. And the waste container actually holds quite a bit as well. Our Hoover didn't even hold the amount of solution that was put out which seemed really odd. This one also will stand on its own so that you can fill it. It won't leak either. My old one had a tiny hole to allow air to come in to push the solution down so I had to plug my finger over the hole while I filled it up and then put solution in. That was a huge pain. This one I just said it in the sink I fill it up and put the solution in. Dumping the dirty solution is SO much easier than our old one! I can actually dump this in the toilet and don't make a mess! One of the major pluses of this one over the Hoover that we had is the ability to clean the waste tank. Cleaning the Hoover was a nightmare. I had to take it outside and use a hose and still could never get it fully clean. This one actually has a large cap on the bottom of it that you can unscrew to remove a section of it and I can fully clean it out very easily. This is such a huge plus because anytime there is even a little bit left in our old one it would start to stink very quickly. Now on to the cleaning. Get ready to see some black water! I was absolutely shocked at how well this pulled dirt and pet hair out of our rugs. We do not have carpet so we have area rugs and runners. This does a fantastic job of cleaning it. The attachment for the upholstery cleaner is way easier than our old one however I wish it had a rotating brush and a little bit of a wider head so that it could suck more solution up. I do wish that you could take the entire plastic front off to clean pet hair that has stuck to the front of it. There is one section that pops off but I find that hardly anything even gets in there. It's still easier than my old one though. My old one I had to take it outside and hose it out. With this one I wait for the pet hair to dry then I flip it over and unscrew the section for replacing the belt that way it loosens the brush. Then I can just use my finger to wipe out the now dry pet hair. You can do this wet but I find it yucky so I wait for it to dry because all the hair just sticks together and it doesn't feel gross. Then I just reattach that little section with the two screws. It is on the noisy side but I have yet to find a shampooer that is not noisy. But it's not so noisy that I need to wear at earplugs or anything. There is very little water leakage when you turn it off. Most shampooers allow some of the dirty water to come back out because it hasn't gone fully up the tube. This one has very minimal water dripage. Would definitely by again.

Impressive cleaner!
I don’t have a lot of carpeted area in my house, but I do have a lot of rugs. Having them cleaned, and being charged hundreds a year for cleaning the rugs and the small carpeted rooms was getting ridiculous. My dog got ill and had terrible accidents all over a rug. I was about to throw it away and get the carpet underneath cleaned, and a friend recommended this cleaner. I was very skeptical, but I am so glad I bought it. I used their antibacterial pet solution, and it worked wonders. I read reviews about not spraying too much ( I only held sprayer half recommended time) , moved it really , really slow to suck up the water, and it worked perfect. Dried quickly. Rug looks brand new, smells amazing, too! I was able to do a 10x12 rug before emptying, and used rest of solution still in tank to clean my dining room carpet . The dirty water tank was absolutely disgusting and I gagged trying to empty it, but it seriously cleaned up even hardened chunks of smelly dog vomit. You will realize how dirty even your cleanest carpets were when you see the tank! Parts were easy to clean, it wasn’t loud at all , and was lightweight enough to get it up stairs on my own. Make sure to vacuum really well before using or you’ll be picking up wet clumps of dog hair that it leaves behind.

Good power, but watch for lingering marks
What I like: It has good suction and brush agitation — it picks up embedded dirt, pet hair and grime more effectively than many light-duty carpet cleaners I’ve tried The “pet” focused features (like the specialized pet tool and odor treatment option) are useful and practical if you have animals in the house. Setup and breakdown is fairly straightforward: fill the tank, rinse, exfoliate carpet, empty tank — no major hassle. The unit seems build solid and comparatively lightweight for its category (makes it more manageable to push across the carpet). What could be improved: After cleaning, I noticed some faint rectangular marks in the exact areas where the vacuum/cleaner base sat during use. Essentially, the track of the cleaner is slightly darker or damp-looking until it fully dries. This is most visible on lighter-colored carpets and is a little disappointing since I expected a more uniformly “cleaned” look. The drying time is decent but not outstanding — while the manufacturer claims “dry in hours,” I found it takes more time in heavily soiled areas or where the machine worked slowly. The water/solution tank capacities are moderate; for very large rooms you’ll be doing multiple fills/empties. Verdict: If you’re dealing with pet messes, or have older carpets that need refreshed, the TurboClean Pet XL is a solid choice — it’ll do a better job than basic rentals or handheld models. That said, if your carpet is light-colored or you’re very picky about blot-free appearances, be aware that you might see faint “track marks” where the machine passed. In short: strong performance but with a small aesthetic trade-off.

Definitely worth it
The gra strip and step hasn't been done yet. You can see the difference even in this bad photo. Made a 90% difference so far on our 65 year old living rooom carpet that has never been shampooed and had tons of gunk over the years. After a few more passes, it should be back to almost new, minus the fading from UV over the years. Best of all, the carpet is cleaned and sanitized. This is my first shampooer and am happy with it.

Only good for spot cleaning, the dirty water container only holds about 1 gallon at a time.
Please read for buying! This machine is not really designed to make cleaning large areas easy on you, I would say it's only good for spot cleaning. I've had a lot of shampooers over the years and I am super disappointed in this one. It seems to be fairly well made but there are a few issues that I've noticed. First off the return water container has some sort of a vacuum gauge on it that automatically shuts off when it gets about a gallon of water in it and the container looks like it could hold so much more! So you will be running back and forth to the sink dumping basically about a gallon of water because it simply stops sucking water once that internal gauge gets triggered. The next thing I noticed was how small the water intake was on the front, my last shampooer had a very large window for sucking water It covered the whole entire front of the shampooer this one is literally three or four inches wide which means you have to make multiple passes to suck up the water. The next thing that I noticed was how the dirty water container snaps in You literally have to pull it to get it to come out and snap back in again I am worried that with repeated usage the little plastic piece will break off and then you will not be able to secure the water container on the machine anymore. This is why I am giving it only one star I am just super disappointed in the machine overall. The only thing positive about it is it is quiet and the plastic seems sturdy.

Very light weight and easy to use.
Just recently purchased. Liked how water tank was separated from collection tank. Very light weight, very easy to use. Cleans carpet really well.
