Excellent filtering, convenience, and good power
The bag and hepa filter along w the sealed compartment mean no dust leaks out of the collection area. The dual batteries make for a lot of working time and ample suction. The backpack made it possible to do the necessary ceiling work i needed to do up high on a ladder. Accessories is confusing though - the diameters are odd and that part sucks.

Great vacuum
My husband has used other backpack vacuum in the past and was not sure how this new vacuum was going to work. At work his other vacuum broke and we needed one right away. The Makita vacuum has turned out to be working better than our previous vacuum. Charging of the batteries is faster and easier than our previous vacuum and lighter too. It’s been a good investment for work. It’s also lighter in weight than our previous one.

Awful awful awful
Garbage vacuum! Seriously do not waste your money. I would give it negative stars if I could.

Surprisingly Strong Suction!
I really don’t understand some of the reviews I read stating that this unit has very poor suction. This has at least as much suction as my 3 HP shop vac. Expensive, but worth it as it’s cut the time in half it takes me to vacuum our 10 pool table cloths, as I don’t have to deal with a power cord or having to hold the shop vac in one hand. Too bad it doesn’t come with a few hose adapters so the unit could be used with accessories from other vacuums that this unit is lacking. I did manage to find and order some adapters on Amazon, so now I’m all set.

Product portability, power and price.
Spare batteries and chargers are available to help reduce downtime when utilizing the vacuum. The unit is powerful and the way to go when you do not have power readily available.

Needs WAY more suction. Makita should rework, even at expense of diminished battery life.
I have a house under major top to bottom renovation and I am constantly having to sweep, vacuum, repeat from all the construction debris/dust. The shop vacs weren’t practical because they are so dang cumbersome to drag around, especially since I have a basement with steep stairs. I have an older demoted Shark upright, but the dragging and working around the cord and limited outlets (due to construction status) was also a major pain. Plus the Shark filter was needing more replacements due to the construction fine dust. I shopped quite a bit and contemplated a corded vs a cordless backpack vac. I hate cords, so I took the plunge and bought this very pricey item hoping to cut my weekly vacuuming time in half and breeze through without working around the cord situation. The unit itself is decent enough to wear (I am a woman and it’s a bit heavy, but manageable) although its thick depth caused me to bang through door jams and have to really watch my turning radius. What really disappointed me was the lack luster suction. I am finding myself constantly having to slow down and go over areas repeatedly and then ultimately having to bend over (which is not easy wearing this) to pick up items that won’t suck in and then put the pretty small items (little chunks of drywall, old dried caulk, small poof items that get stuck in head, like insulation, etc) in my pockets. Most of the time I end up using this for finer particles and then going back through both levels of the house with my old Shark vacuum to suck around the edges. I think Makita sacrificed suction power to extend the battery life, but what good is extending battery life if it doesn’t get the job done in the first place? I think Makita should consider amping the suction, even at the expense of the battery life because a person could then own a second set of batteries (or even a third set) and just swap them out and continue on. The only reason I didn’t repack this and return it was because I am HOPING it can at least manage dog hair so when my house is done, I can quickly get through both levels of my house with lighter needs vacuuming in between the major vac days. Makita is viewed as a contractor grade, construction tools supply company, but this vacuum is far from something that can handle a construction site with moderate to light debris. Very bummed, as I will be still attached to electrical outlets in order to get the power needed for a real clean floor for now. Maybe Elon can come up with a stealth, high suction battery operated vacuum. One can hope!
