TV where there is HDMI
I did not want to buy a smart TV for my workshop (not everything should be WiFi and logins), but I have a spare 27 inch monitor. It works great except for 1080p 60Hz with sports. It looks better on my 75Hz monitor at 720p for games. The 1080i and 1080p video setting have too much screen tear and pixelation. This box is also great because I can control the volume with the remote. I wish it had RCA video in so I can connect my old DVD player to my HDMI monitor.

Decent Converter box for an older TV
My mother was using a simpler version of this decoder for a TV that was designed for the pre-hdtv signals. It started acting strangely and unpredictably. I ordered this box to replace it. It was the cheapest option I could locate anywhere - locally or online. The box performs as expected but it doesn't seem to allow the tv tuner to control the channel. In the other setup, the tv tuner still would pull in channels but with this box we have to use the tuner built into the box. It isn't a terrible change but now 2 remotes are needed to power on the tv and then control this box.

Love hate relationship...
My original review is below. I am going to up my rating on this converter box to 4 stars Like to give it 3 1/2 but better than that. Got a replacement and things seem much better. There are still many quirks like voice out of sync with video a bit on live TV. The sync issue is a little worse on recorded shows but not near as bad as my first converter box. The remote works better on replacement too. It still has a few quirks like the range is fairly short but the buttons work! The first converter box had some issues with USB drives. No matter which type I tried (USB thumb or USB HHD) would get "No USB Drive Present" after 24 or so hours. Only way to get working again is power off and power on. Still cannot fast forward recorded shows, the box just hangs up. Not even 2X FF will work without issues. Maybe there is not enough power to drive box and USB HHD? The power supply gets a little warm driving the converter box and USB HHD, so I might replace with a one of better quality. Overall for the price I am happy now. Hopefully I will not have to return here and modify my rating later. For the price it will be hard to get a better converter box from my experience. I did get an offer from seller to call their support line. My hours and their hours do not work out, but they did offer support. ----------- FIRST REVIEW BELOW ----------- When trying to use PVR function, forget it. Recording shows works, but if you try to Fast Forward, unit locks up and only way to get it back working is a hard reboot (unplug power). I have tried three (3) different USB sticks and all three made no difference. All USB sticks are of brand name, not some off brand. Even tried older USB 2 and same issue. The menu. What a joke. There are many issues, but lets take the PVR menu where you are suppose to be able to delete a show. It shows [EPG] Delete. It does nothing. This is not the only mislabeled menu option / function, just one example. The manual is a little help but be prepared to experiment to understand the remote. Seems like the manual may be out of date. Overall I just cannot bring myself to give the Iview 3300STB Converter Box more than two (2) stars. Honestly, 2 1/4 would be about right. I know the unit cost under $20, but they really hype it up. It does not come close to another brand we bought year ago for $29. If the PVR actually worked as described and menu not mislabeled, I would likely give the Iview 3300STB Converter Box 4 stars.

had some problems -customer service by phone was "no one is available. leave your name and number"
had 1 main issue that made it a return. i bought this specifically to record ota tv shows (and get a numbered remote too- i hate roku style modern remotes). when you record a program (on a usb stick), and then go to play it, you first get a screen of your recorded programs with identifying info, some commands, and a "preview" panel which will show a small video of recorded show you highlight. when you want to watch it full screen, you have to hit the "rec" button on the remote while the video is playing in the small preview panel to switch it to full screen. the manual says you have to hit "schedule" to go full screen which does NOT work on this model. the big problem is the command "PAGE DOWN" paired with the epg select button on the preview menu continues onscreen, in it's exact prescreen position, superimposed over the full screen picture. i find it very annoying. it not too large and is lower center right, but it's a very annoying design flaw. i tried calling iview customer service, thinking there may be an update to fix this, and was told at 2 different numbers no one was available, leave name and number. i figured out their misinformation to get full screen, and tried to give them a chance to fix the page down superimposition, but they don't seem to care much. also, the remote is super-weak and must be pointed Directly at device...which is weird because the remote also turns on a tv that is 20 feet and 180 degrees away from remote, and away from straight line of sight...3x the working front facing range of the i view device with the remote. the manual is poor, and has wrong information. i have a homework brand unit i am using but wanted to buy a backup since it is about 4 years old- before trump's tarriffs doubled? tripled? my cost. the homework unit (3.5 stars) remote went bad last year , costing close to $10 to replace. i thought i would try a different manufacturer in hope of improvements but iview has proved way worse. one star to amazon for charging 6.99 to return items to my local close ups dropoff that used to be free. now i have to drive 4 miles to amazon store, and pay to park in a highly congested traffic area to return defective items for 'free" (not counting my gas, time, aggravation).

A very good converter box
I need a digital to analog converter for my old Sony Trinitron TV (hey it still works great) which doesn't have a digital tuner, in my spare room. After some research I got this box along with my dollar store antenna (hey it works great too) and I cant believe how well this set up works. Set up was very easy, just plug the antenna in to the back of the box and use the supplied 3 prong plugs from the box to the back of the TV do a channel scan and now I have over the air TV. the box preforms very well, it even has a channel guide, which is a plus, and digital clock. Now this is an 20 year old TV so its not flat screen hd quality but still a good clear picture.

will work but has some issues
Not a bad unit for the cost. It does work but has some flaws. I purchased it for the Clear QAM capability. And that does work BUT the guide feature doesn't work and the date/time is not correct (I assume that is because the cable company I am using is not sending that in the signal). Missing the guide was not a big issue but not having a manual way to set the time was. I could not schedule a recording because every time I turned on the box the date changed. I switched to the over the air input and that seems to work better. The guide is working (only see one day but better than nothing) and I can schedule it to record and that does work (I wish they had a week day option instead of only daily weekly and once). The only issue I am having with it is ... when I play a recorded show and try to fast forward, after a few seconds the box hangs and nothing will work ... everything is frozen and I have to unplug and re-plug the box to reset it. I sent 2 questions to the company (the site claims to have a 24 hour response to questions) but never got an answer. So bottom line for the cost of the unit it will work but is not intuitive and cannot use it for all the advertised features. A follow up on this.. I worked with Shenny from Iview,, and on 07/13/2021 they did up with a new firmware version for this box,, and It corrected the Fast forward Issue and the recording schedule seems to be more stable than it did before. Bottom line for the cost of the unit it exceeds what I would expect .. works mostly like advertised and is usable.

Easy setup
I liked everything about it, but remember I just installed it within the last hour. I find it to be extremely close to the Koqit which it what is replacing that I destroyed by plugging it in, pulled the plug out for a better placing, and it sparked destroying the computer within because it automatically starts up when plugged in. This one does the same. Make sure it's turned off before pulling it's plug.
