The most difficult thing, as has been written ad nauseum, is removal of the stock sights from the XD. Not only has my gunsmith had to use the press on them, but lately he has been getting ones that need to be torched and cut in order to remove. That has no bearing on this product however, just keep in mind that it may cost you a bit more to have them swapped if that sort of labor is involved on your specific firearm. In addition, the sight alignment marks on the XD frame once the sights have been removed should be ignored, as they will not match with the TruGlo sights once installed and correctly aligned. Again, this has no bearing on the performance of these sights, but it does mean that you will want to have a competent gunsmith install these sights unless you know exactly what you are doing. It is not as simple as removing the old sights and slapping these in to the stock marks. The sights themselves are outstanding, and are an immediately noticeable step up from the stock sights. The U-notch in particular makes the choice of the Pro version of these sights a huge benefit. Unlike some reviewers I found the light intensity to be ideal right out of the package in every sort of light. Not too bright, not too dim, whether in full sun, shadow, dim light, and total darkness. The only thing about them that I find in the way of a negative is something that I think is a pretty surprising mistake in design to have made. It is a minor thing, but worth mentioning. All the edges of the sights are not rounded. Some of them are, but some of them are either hard 90 degree corners or actually acute angles. That makes them very easy to catch on things (clothing, fingers, etc.), either on the draw, on the holstering, or while using the slide to cycle a round. I haven't actually had that happen, but I can see that the potential is there. If TruGlo wants to insure these sights are ideal for concealed carry firearms they should alter the design to round these corners off. Beyond that, I couldn't be happier with them.

I bought these sites because I wanted to be able to accurately aim in most lighting conditions. I had them installed by a local gunsmith who had no issues given the reported difficulty from some Springfield XD owners attempting to install them themselves. A press was used exclusively to uninstall the original sights and install the new sights. No hammering was heard while I waited 20 feet away from the open doorway of their workshop. Night (close to total darkness) and Day (noon day sun and indoor lighting) brightness is evident by the pictures accompanying this review. The profile of the sights are almost the same as the factory sights. I had no problems drawing or holstering. Accuracy to me is dependent on the gunsmith's ability to install and line up the sights, and the accuracy of the shooter. That being said, point of sight is identical, if not better than the factory sights, which were dead-on while resting my arms on the range bench to get as accurate a shot as I could. Target acquisition was just as good as the factory fiber-optic in daylight. The orange ring helps in this regard. The indoor range I use has little ability in adjusting lighting conditions for testing various levels of light. At times it was difficult to see and line up the rear sights in somewhat dim background lighting. Had I had total darkness I believe sight acquisition would have been acceptable. Generally, I'm satisfied with these sights given the short period of time I've had them. They are better than the factory sights for low light/night time target acquisition.

Installed by Gunsmith. Not as bright as I expected ! I can see them in a darkened room, enough to aim the 9mm but was expecting a little brighter dots ! Daytime shooting the sights are bright, easy to aim with. They fit the Sight opening on the pistol well, tight, do not think they will move ! I thought about sending them back because at first I couldn't see the front sight in a darkened room but then I decided to keep them and see what happened, and besides It cost $35 to have them installed, who would swallow that ! I hope they get a little brighter with use. Added 09/01/2017 - The sights are a little brighter than when originally installed. When in a darkened room I can see the front sight more easily. Maybe the more they are in the bright light the more they get charged up, not sure but they appear a little brighter. I added another star because they are starting to perform the way I thought they would, maybe they will get even better !

6 out of 5 stars. A great EDC addition for quick acquisition sights. Older eyes will appreciate a large bright Orange front post and the addition of the effective night sights is a win win. Placed these on an XD9 and may add a cowitness mini reflex red dot as well my gunsmith didn’t want to take on the project saying XD’s sights are notoriously difficult to remove and I had to agree to minor marring of the slide before he agreed to do the work. I checked around with some XD owners and they all agreed sight removal is a nightmare. I would still suggest these sights for anyone looking for a more vibrant presentation.
