Easy to use lots of features
Mikrotik makes some the best bang for your buck network gear out there. I needed another one of these and it does what I need. It's got 1 PoE, port, 4 more RJ45 1GBE ports, and then a SFP port in the back. The SFP port accepts pretty much anything. I put in a generic 1GB RJ45 transceiver and it works great. It also means all 5 ports on the front are usable for devices. The SWOS software is easy to use. Lets you do VLANs, or any other management option you want. It's lightweight once setup, easy to connect to and monitor with the Mikrotik WinBox64 software you can get off their website. It will find the Mikrotik switches on your network once they are setup correctly. No issues, easy setup and works in silence with no fan.

Great little switch!
Bought this after deciding to re-terminate the phone lines in my house (used Cat5E) from RJ11 to RJ45 to provide wired gigabit ethernet around the house. Picked this particular unit because it had a wider operating temperature range than most other switches, could be powered by PoE, and was cheap. It's in a weatherproof enclosure mounted on an outside wall powered with a passive PoE adapter. Been running since November with no issues whatsoever. Speed tests show full gigabit transfer speeds and <1ms latency times. 10/24/16 Update: It's been almost two years since I stuck it in its enclosed box where it's seen temperatures from single digits in the winter to 115 in the summer and not a single hiccup. The only restarts this thing has experienced have been for firmware updates or when I've been messing with the upstream POE switch that powers it.

Spend the extra $10 and buy this over any of the crap switches.
Been working with this a few days. I am really amazed at the power of this switch, thank you Mikrotik for filling the niche at this price point. ------------- For those who are less tech savvy: 1) This works out of the box 2) It is better to configure it for the IP range you want to use The instructions are dirt simple, and there are paper instructions included (basically: connect a computer to it, assign static any on the IP range: 192.168.88.xxx and then connect to the 192.168.88.1 web interface) 3) In terms of whether it is too technical to actually use any of the features: If you have never set a static IP before, it is not hard, but it might be overkill. Though having it work reliably out of the box still applies. In comparison with other cheap switches, with this one there are VERY high chances of it working at the time of delivery, it is incredibly fast, has many options, nerds approve of it (just look at the other reviews for their products and this one), the company is great to work with, and you can sleep well at night knowing you are supporting the making of the BEST in class products. Don't you always complain you need to sleep more soundly? Your kids and wife will probably thank you for buying it since you'll be more well rested, and ask you for the secret! Where am I going with this? oh yeah, the Mikrotik switch. In short: good ------------- For those who are more tech savvy: Yeah right, like I need to give you any advice, you already know what is up. PS: I have no association with Mikrotik, their nerd network tech building skills just impressed me so much, I couldn't help but fall in love with the products.

Great managed switch for the price
I am a Mikrotik user and needed something for my basement to put all my devices on but didnt want yet another unmanaged switch. This inexpensive switch works great. And the bonus of having the SFP helps since I can now fiber over to it from my router upstairs. I have access to stats on each port, simple VLAN setup, ease of upgrading firmware, port mirroring, etc. It just works, packs alot of features and very affordable.

It's a good small switch
It does pretty much everything you'd want a small managed switch to do and then some. Definitely worth it if you care about FOSS. However, TP-Link has the TL-SG108E on Amazon for $30 (currently) that can do 95% of what this switch can do with 8 ports and a higher switching capacity if the best price is what you're after.

Working well!
Got this switch today, and it seems to be working well. Everything is as expected. I also purchased SFP transceivers from 6com (Amazon listing, "6COM for Mikrotik Compatible S-85DLC05D"). I powered down each item to insert the transceiver (the other is in a hEX S router). Soon as I plugged in the cable, the connection came right up. Also, I like the idea of grounding things, so I ended up getting a Ubiquiti POE injector to power the switch. Specs listed "passive POE", for I used the Ubiquiti POE-24-12W-G, and that seems stable.

If you have a Verizon FIOS router and have ordered ...
If you have a Verizon FIOS router and have ordered the 5 static ip bundle from Verizon and have discovered that the Verizon router is not capable of splitting out the 5 static ip's, then this automatic routing switch is for you. NO issues, it just worked. It is a layer 3 router, and is capable of switching at the ip level. It will sense what ip address the attached device thinks it is and route accordingly. Of course you have to set the attached device to one of the static ip addresses Verizon assigned you. Place RB260 before your Verizon router and other devices getting a static ip.

A fantastic managed switch for a surpising price point!
My only regret is that I hadn't found these earlier. They are a great addition to my network. When it comes down to it, it's actually a 6 port switch when you are able to utilize the SFP slot. I use it to link 2 switches on separate ends of the house. It is fully manageable and easy to create and utilize VLANs to segregate device types. I run several IoT devices, a CCTV network, wireless, and wired devices and keeping things easy to manage is so helpful. Listen, I purchased the MikroTik router, 2 switches, and 2 controlled APs for $250... beat that!

Ciao a tutti!

Whether behind your ISP as a router, or simply used as a managed switch, these mikrotik hex devices are a godsend. The only thing I'd recommend people do when buying mikrotik devices is to go to the website and download the board diagram. Some devices have switch chips, some have multiple and, some have edge cases where an sfp port hogs a channel to the CPU. The version 3 of rb260gs is AMAZING
