Mr. Conductor's supply of magic gold dust, which allows him to travel between Shining Time and Thomas's island, is critically low. Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to get more. Meanwhile, Thomas is fending off attacks by the nasty diesel engines. Getting more gold dust will require help from Mr. C's slacker cousin, his new friend Lilly, and her morose grandfather, plus the secret engine he's hidden all these years and couldn't get running.Bonus Features: Return To Shining Time: Your Ticket To Thomas And The Magic Railroad – Two-Part Documentary With Writer/Director/Producer Britt AllcroftHello Mr. Conductor – Interview With Alec BaldwinFinding Your Sparkle – Interview With Mara WilsonThere’s Something About This Place – Interview With Didi ConnThe Sounds Of Sodor – Interview With Composer Hummie MannBehind-The-Scenes ReelDeleted Story Lines Review: The Magic is back.... In 4K HD display - Thomas is back... (Well, classic Thomas is back.) He's puffing back into longtime fans' hearts in 4K HD graphics, as well as Mr. Conductor (Alec Baldwin), Burnett Stone (the late Peter Fonda), Lily (Mara Wilson), Junior (Michael E. Rodgers), Patch (Cody McMains), Lady, Diesel 10 and Splodge. The addition of the deleted storyline that includes P.T. Boomer (the late Doug Lennox) really helped the movie make more sense than the final cut. If the original storyline did remain, this movie would probably not have bombed like it did. My childhood idol, Thomas has never looked so nostalgic. He's still a really useful engine in my heart. Review: Stuff from long ago, now officially unearthed - While Thomas and the Magic Railroad may not critically be a good movie, I think that with the cut storyline that was released on this Blu-Ray would've made this movie slightly better. For years, the movie was all about Diesel 10 wanting to destroy Lady for no reason. It is now official that P.T. Boomer was set to be the main villain in the original. I'd recommend buying this if you actually watched Thomas and the Magic Railroad as a child, or you (like me) are fascinated on what the film would've been like.

Everything I Wanted and More
Huge thank you to Shout Factory for putting out this wonderful release. Seeing all of the unreleased scenes, the documentary, and the interviews is a real treat after 20 years of being a Thomas fan as well as a fan of the movie. It's no full on directors cut, but all the content is here to see finally (and in Blu-ray no less). Packaging was nice, no loose discs. Menu is simple but effective and it's a must have for any Thomas fan. Wonderful release.

Beyond words!
As magical as it was twenty years ago! I love this film so much, and the Blu-ray treatment is out of this world. The bonus material is incredible. The likes of which I thought I’d never see on a Thomas release, even on an anniversary rerelease from Shout! Factory. The information is invaluable. I’m so glad I was able to add this to my collection. An all-time favorite for sure!

"Deleted Storylines" Bonus Feature Worth Every Penny
In addition to being a huge nostalgia trip and train-gasm and being a legitimately good restoration, this Blu Ray comes with a bonus feature call "Deleted Storylines." This bonus feature is pretty much the fabled lost director's cut of the film. It's like a key, unlocking the convoluted storyline and weird editing. I loved it!

Deleted scenes with PT Boomer makes this worth your purchase! (albeit with degraded video quality)
If you're a long-time Thomas fan like me, you'll be well aware that a major character (PT Boomer, played by Doug Lennox) and many crucial storylines were cut from the film. These cuts were made against the director's wishes following a poor test audience screening. Many fans have petitioned to have the lost material released to the public, and with this release, the magic has finally been restored! The discs contain the theatrical version of the movie and several bonus features in addition to the deleted storylines featurette. These bonus features include a two-part documentary with Britt Allcroft, interviews with various cast members and the composer for the film, and a behind-the-scenes reel previously only released on the German DVD of the movie. These are well put together, especially given the global events that had started while preparing the extras for this release. However, the big selling point is the deleted storylines. If you're expecting a full-fledged director's cut with the original voice cast (John Bellis, Michael Angelis, Keith Scott, etc.) and polished special effects, you will be disappointed. It's basically a supercut of various deleted scenes from various sources (my guess is Britt's personal collection of the original dailies). But every deleted scene is on here, even ones NOT in a leaked workprint that has since surfaced online. And in case you're wondering, the deleted storylines and every other bonus feature is included on the DVD as well as the Blu-ray. Still, the visual quality of the deleted storylines is what prevents me from giving this a 5-star review. I'm not merely talking about the fact that the footage is primarily sourced from analog SD sources and not in HD quality. The footage was deinterlaced poorly (which really should have been inverse telecined) and upscaled prior to such deinterlacing. This creates various combing effects throughout the feature. If you plan on ripping the disc to create a fan edit, be prepared for complex AVISynth scripts, blended frames, and a lot of headaches. But for the average consumer who simply plans to watch the deleted storylines on their TV and nothing more, the quality is adequate to satisfy the die-hard fans wanting to see PT Boomer in action. Above all, Shout! Factory went all-out on this release. For long-term fans of the film, this is a must-have Blu-ray. The deleted storylines make the Blu-ray worth your purchase alone. Parents who grew up with the model era of Thomas & Friends and/or Shining Time Station can also use this to introduce their kids to the Thomas they grew up with. It also contains a lot of behind-the-scenes tidbits from the various documentaries and interviews. And if you just want to watch the film again for nostalgic purposes, it works for that, too! This Blu-ray/DVD combo set is definitely worth buying. Sparkle Sparkle Sparkle!!

The Magic Has Been Restored
It's amazing that after 20 years, this movie still holds up really well. The deleted storyline featuring the villainous drifter P.T. Boomer certainly gave more depth to Peter Fonda's character, Burnett Stone. It was also great hearing the views from the cast and hearing about their experiences working on the film.

Thomas The Tank Engine
Truly I Love Thomas and the Magic Railroad, also The Original Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends not the new ones cause they changed a lot like the voice of the characters/the characters talking, and crying with tears

Its so brilliant to see the Cut Footage with P.T. Boomer even if the quality is quite poor and heavily interlaced better to have something than not ! And really lovely to have Thomas and The Magic Railway in HD Thank you Brit Allcroft ! If you live in the UK you'll need a Region Free Blu Ray player.

This film is a nostalgic piece of media for any Thomas the Tank Engine fan who grew up in the classic era, and to have deleted scenes that were cut makes this as close to the Alcroft cut of the film as we're ever going to get.

La había buscado desde hace mucho, una película que me recuerda a mi infancia. Es genial ver la historia original y todo el material adicional es una joya.

Despite the film being very take it or leave it, this blu ray release is a necessary purchase for any hardcore thomas fan. So many never thought the day would come when the elusive PT Boomer scenes would be shown to the world. But alas, it happened. The deleted scenes are wonderful, but it also contains some wonderful interviews with cast and crew, which are all wonderful.
