Smell like a good Whiskey
Great smell, love the feeling after I shave, it is cool and refreshing. Definitely feel clean, and my skin feels much better after the shave. I would buy this again. I will explore other fragrances, but I am partial to the whiskey notes as it fit's my basic smell profile.

Yes, it smells like whiskey. In a good way.
I've seen several one and two star reviews that complained about WW smelling like alcohol. Specifically whiskey.....not being a smart ass, but it is in the name. To me it smells like whiskey that was aged in cedar barrels as opposed to oak. Slightly smoky, distinct evergreen smell (that the 'woods" part) that balances out the alcohol well. Although it is a "heavier" scent than the Clubman aftershave, don't let that scare you. It goes on strong, but lightens up in about 15 min or so. Good evening aftershave.

REDEMPTION!!!
Finally, a Clubman product that deserves the "Special Reserve" (SR) showing on the bottle!!! The original special reserve is the only aftershave I have EVER thrown out. Its use was deeply frowned upon for use around the house. People who oftentimes compliment me on aftershave choices were keeping a respectful distance. It's not-so-subtle blend of caked urinal (not urinal cakes) and death actually caused the pets to hover, but I'm pretty sure they thought there was a carcass in it for them. I smelled incontinent. It had to be kept in a ziplock because it stank up the bathroom and it's power was unrelenting. When worn, it was like getting punched in the nose everytime the breeze shifted or the AC kicked on. I have moved to the South where it is hot and humid and I can't even describe the horrors of heating this stuff up. I thought there might be something to the "pat down", but I only made it through a couple of days, sitting in my shame. If I'm being honest, it made me hyper self-conscious.Terrible. Now that the venting is over, other Clubman products I DO like include the original (classic, barbershop) and the citrus musk (a little too lemon/lime cleaner at first but settles down beautifully and smells great on hot days). When I opened this one, I caught what I thought was a whiff of the original SR, and thought, "fool me twice...", but was completely wrong. Best guess is that it was stored within a mile of the SR and death came calling. It has a leather, tobacco and almost minty smell which I believe is the "bergamot" they describe, but wonderfully blended and balanced. The whiskey is found more in the dry down and is warm and inviting, with notes of pepper. Throughout the evening, I would catch slight notes here and there, but was not overpowered as some Clubman products can be. Definitely worth a buy and am excited for the Gin one that's on its way!

Overpowering
Normally, I go for Nivea Sensitive skin, but went out on a limb for this because it sounded interesting. This was a mistake. Upon receipt, I immediately opened the box as I was eager to see what it smelled like. Well, it didn't take long to be hit with it. The (plastic) bottle was completely sealed, yet there is a very slight film on it as if it had been seeping a bit, and it was noticeable. Familiar, yet different, I couldn't quite place it. After removing the seal and taking a whiff from the opening, it transported me - not to a dimly lit bar - but to a time when I was a young child at my grandfathers house. My grandmother sold Avon, so around the house, in different rooms, there were multiple bottles of Avon aftershave. The kind of aftershave that was sold in bottles that looked cars, or houses, or other things. That's what this smells like. While I have fond memories of my grandparents' house, this smell is not pleasant. After storing the bottle in the bathroom, next to the rest of the shaving supplies, I went and did dishes. And threw a pizza in the oven. 20 minutes later, the family was home, the pizza was coming out of the oven, and most of the dishes that needed cleaning by hand, had been done. We sat down to eat, and as I brought my slice of pizza to my mouth, it hit me again. That smell. Over the pizza. After washing a counter full of nasty pots and pans. Evidently the seepage of the plastic bottle had managed to transfer some of it to my fingers. Where it stayed. Undeterred, I thought maybe I would wait until I actually used it as an aftershave to review. Well, I am freshly shaven with it on my face, and I can safely say...not a fan. I could smell the unopened bottle on the counter as I shaved. Over the shaving cream that was on my face. Right next to my nose. The sensation of applying it is fine. No worse than any other aftershave splash, and my face feels nice. However, that smell. The description states "its captivating fragrance is deep yet not overpowering". It is most definitely overpowering. And I can't get the vision of those old, musty, glass Avon bottles out of my head.

Whiskey & Woods - A Fine Scent
I've been using Clubman Pinaud for some time and really enjoy it as an aftershave but wanted to try something new. As I'm a fan of both whiskey and wood smells, this was a natural and, man, they hit a home run with this. My wife loves it and a female neighbor commented unsolicited how much she loves it as well. Some have said it has an "old man" scent. I disagree. I think it has a mature scent that doesn't smell like something college kids wear. Color me impressed. It does soothe the skin, it does its job perfectly and it stays all day long, albeit subtly.
