The dimensions in the specs say 48.5 x 3.1 x 2 inches. That can't be right if you can only put 2 hdmi cables in a run???

Those measurement are definitely wrong. Actual measurements of sections approx. 48x1.25x.5 inches

Will CAT5 cable fit through this?

Yes the cable will for sure fit. You could get 1 (or maybe 2) cat5 cables to fit. The connector plugs might not fit through the tube, but that doesn't matter since the tubes are open on the sides to allow for any cable to slip through the side instead of feeding it through the ends.

I used a miter box with the included back saw (the kind for cutting moldings) like this http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-20-600-Clamping-Mitre-Box/dp/B00002X232/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1424015063&sr=8-2&keywords=miter+box+and+saw+set. I first tried an electric miter saw, but it is too powerful and can damage the product.

can this fit a cable and flat Ethernet cat6? both together?

Nope , I had a very hard time just fishing coax . Whatever you do don't try to run the wire after it's installed . The material is too thick for the slots to be effective . Basically use it as a conduit
