I now have 3 of these tucked in various kitchen drawers. They are great, sturdy and work well. There is an adjustable tensioner so that the slicer still works perfectly as the wire stretches. The wire will eventually break, but usually not for a year or two. Replacement wires are inexpensive and easily obtained. Highly recommend this great kitchen tool.

I love this slicer. I am 32 and I love Velveeta cheese. I have always had problems with the roller style slicers and using a knife the cheese always sticks! Until now!!! This slicer works amazing with hard cheeses and soft cheese. All you need to do is a quick rinse in the sink and its ready to be put away for next time! No more searching in the sink for the cheese cutter! I wish I had found this 20 years ago. You can have thin slices or thick slices just by flipping over, no screws to adjust and trying to get the roller head even with the wire!! Even though I received this item at a discounted price for an honest review this slicer has changed my cheese cutting forever!

Absolutely love this cheese cutter. I have used it on soft and hard cheese (sharp cheddar) in block form. I can cut thin or thick slices with no problem. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a good sturdy cheese slicer. Just what I have been looking for. Update: I have been using this cheese cutter for over a year and it is still working flawlessly. I found it works better, always, on a block of cheese that is not right out of the frig. It saves a lot of money on buying pre-sliced cheese.

The handle is nice and sturdy and easy to grip and hold. There is nice control with the handle. The wires are equal on each side - so no thick or thin slices of cheese. I used this cheese slicer on medium/ soft cheddar and young cheese and it worked great. There is a little fork at the end to help push slices to place. It's design is sophisticated and timeless.

I had one of these before and the wire finallt broke. I felt so lucky to find one of these cheese slicers again. I slices so quickly and cleans easily.

This one works. It lasts for years because it is metal and the wires can be easily tightened if they get loose. The competing plastic ones bend in the dishwasher and through normal use. Once the plastic bends, the wires get loose, cannot be tightened, and the thing is useless.

This is one of the better cheese cutters that I have tried over the years. Works great on softer cheeses but I don't use it for cold, hard cheddar. Not skookum enough for the big 5 pound blocks but works on small blocks or cheese at room temperature. Easy to clean too.

Made very cheap. Not near the quality of ones we have.

Brilliant piece of kit, well made,strong and easy to control. We've had a couple of cheap plastic ones which lasted very little time as you do have to exert pressure on the cutter to slice through cold cheddar for example, hence i snapped them. No chance with this slicer as solid metal core and a very handy adjuster at the top so you can keep the cutting wire taught-very important for accurate, easy slicing. Love It.

Bought this to replace a cheap, plastic one, which had snapped in two. It's a beautiful thing: design, materials and manufacture -- all top notch. I particularly like the walnut handle, although I wouldn't risk putting it in the dishwasher. Perfect for producing slices for our raclette machine.

Well packaged and arrived on time. Excellent product, cuts two different thicknesses of cheese. I have been using one of these for several years. The wire finally broke and at this price it was easier to replace the whole unit rather than buy a replacement wire. This is a great item at a VERY good price. Look no further - just buy one, you won't regret it.
