Not the best for Malas
Bought this hemp cord to make Malas, however the thickness is not uniform throughout the spool causing some of the beads to get stuck or not string on at all. A bit sad that I am unable use this product for Malas however is has proven to be quite useful in other areas, such as gift wrapping!

Excellent Product! Strong Material, Perfect For Gardening and Crafts!
I purchased this hemp cord on May 24, 2014 and have since used it for a variety of purposes.I have predominantly used this cord to tie plants to stakes in my large vegetable garden. The cord is extremely strong and easy to maneuver. Every single one of my plants was directly connected to stakes with this cord and not a single one ever came undone or ripped. In fact, this cord is so strong that I had to use a knife to cut it off my stakes at the end of the growing season!Unlike other hemp cords on the market, this cord is very fine and does not have rough edges of poorly tied rope sticking out. This product is so large that I still have a fair amount left over, even though I used more cord that I can count for gardening, household usage, arts and crafts, and other purposes. My cat also loves it as a toy, which is an added plus.

Used in my garden
I purchased this to use in my garden to make a trellis for my green beans. It was a little stiffer than I anticipated but so far it seems to be working well. It has been through 2 thunderstorms and isn't sagging which is the attribute I was hoping for. I don't think I would choose this for jewelry because of the stiffness and it makes large knots. The wait for it to arrive was long. I'll place a second order soon so it will already be here when I need it.

It does stink but...
...I fully intend to wash the stuff I make with it before wearing. If I were making jewelry for other people with this, I would be upset, but I’m not so it’s ok. I always wash my hemp jewelry before I wear it anyways so it’s less stiff. But yes, there is a distinct, foul odor to this hemp cord.

Works for the cost
Has thick and thin spots, not ideal for beading and even had it snap a couple times while square knotting. Works for your everyday projects but will stick with the higher cost hemp for mm consistancy for projects where quality matters.

good value
20lb hemp 400'At $3 this is a great deal. My batch was even and had only a very slight odor. I'm using it to stake tomatoes and cannot break it with my hands. If I step on one end and pull I can snap it. I actually wish I could snap it apart with my hands as it would make the work go faster. I have an old bolt of one-ply jute or sisal that I'm running out of and cannot find anywhere. I can break it apart with my hands, yet will last more than one season. I re-use the longer strands. This 2-ply hemp should last at least two seasons. Attached are close up pics where I've unraveled the ends.

All in all I love this product and will be purchasing it again if i ever run out. It is a little bigger than a tennis ball in size. I always recommend this to friends and have shared it with all of my friends and family who also smoke to get away from inhaling butane.Pros:Lasts extremely longCan be shared with friends because of so many feetBurns at a good paceIs thin yet i use it for smoking without it ever burning fastSmell goes away after a month, i personally enjoy the scent.ConsHas a scent when it is first unpackaged. Can unwind easily and be will be frustrating if not done correctly

Tough natural Cordage, looks nice too!
I used it to tie the tail piece of my homemade tagelharpa down and make a strap for it. Its under a lot of tension, so I had to weave it, then I just kept weaving lol. But, the cordage has held tight for several months now. If I ever need more for my next instrument, I'm getting this darice brand

Flaky and uneven
It functioned ok for my purposes, but don’t buy if using for anything fine. Cord is uneven and flaky in places, had to pull the strands apart every so often to work with it. Lots of hard fibres, definitely not polished.

Bought this to crochet some baskets. Totally worked. I've made 4 so far and still have loads of cord left. Didn't even mind having to wear a plaster on two of my fingers because it's quite stiff to use.It arrived on time and was well packaged.Down side is I ordered without realising it was from an American store which meant postage was high.
