TOO MANY INGREDIENTS TO LIST IMITATION !!! BEWARE !!!! TOO MANY INGREDIENTS TO LIST NOT SALMON EGGS

This product has the color and texture of salmon caviar. You have the fun of the "eggs" bursting as you bite into them. It has a very light flavor, just no salmon flavor.

Not perfect but really close. I opened one jar on receipt and tasted it while still warm, and there is a fishy note that isn't quite a salmon egg taste, mixed in with the usual explosion of flavor you get when you bite into salmon eggs. But once well chilled it becomes a lot less evident. As a matter of choice I'd take fresh salmon eggs over these, but if cost is a factor, these are a very good substitute. They should work fine in sushi. I was dubious about this product since the last imitation, crab meat, proved to be only vaguely like the real thing, but this is a much better effort. Again, there is a difference, this product is not an exact replacement, but it is close. You may like it, you may not. But for the price it's at least worth a try because if you do like it you're going to save a lot of money and it will keep a lot longer than fresh salmon eggs will in your frig.

I cannot say anything about the taste or quality of the product as it contains shellfish and xanthan gum additives. If you are sensitive to either of these ingredients I would look at other products. Adding an ingredients list to the Amazon listing would be a good idea. The product arrived well packaged and in good condition.
