A grade above the rest! This Quadrone has a sleek and elegant design, a metallic finish, and 4 channel controls so you can fly up/down, forward/backward, left/right and rotate left/right. The internal gyro means you'll always get a smooth flight. It also comes with a 2.4GHz transmitter, so radio interference won't be a problem, even at its 1000 feet flight distance! Enjoy fun fly times with friends from the sky above. Review: Very impressive for entry level quad-copter. - For a first time flyer, I am very impressed. It is extremely stable and easy to fly. Also takes good quality pictures as well as video (w/ audio). Very durable and good quality. Charge lasts about :15 - 18 minutes. For the price, I think it's a really good, entry level copter. Only down side is having to wait for the battery to recharge, which takes about :90 minutes. Very happy with it. Review: This is junk at best. The calibration is way off - This is junk at best. The calibration is way off, even after multiple balance readjustments. The controller needs to re-sync constantly, wasting its puny battery life of 10 minutes! The memory stick doesn't even register on the included thumb drive for a PC or a Mac! And the fact that the drone instructions are incomplete, including a feature called "One Key Return" describing signal to return drone to the pilot location with a press of a button...the button doesn't exist on the controller! This is a big waste of someone's hard earned money. And return policies at most stores do not allow opened box drone cameras to be returned! If you are an entry level user, look elsewhere. Even if you are advanced at RC helicopter controls, the sensitivity on the controller is like a chop shop powerband accelerator on a death trap moto-cross bike. Even if this thing could get to 1000ft as it claims, which it can not, I doubt the photos would be worth it. I was looking forward to nice aerial photography to be shared with the gift giver, this thing will give you a stroke just trying to control it.

and one seems like it's got sand in the gears
It's ok. If it wasn't for the short battery life I'd be stoked. I don't know if it's actually the battery or that at least one motor seems to be working harder than the others. I took the whole damn thing apart and spun the motors individually, and one seems like it's got sand in the gears. It was a cheap christmas present from my mom and I've had a lot of fun with it. But 4 minutes of flying time is pretty weak.
