It works, has good sound quality, with extra long cord. The video shows this BOYA in the first part compared to a wireless mic that just doesn't match BOYA sound quality. There are draw backs, like battery life - you have to add new batteries almost every use if you forget to turn off the microphone, and the battery port is in the middle of the cord so it weighs down the cord. Also, anything that rubs against or touches this battery port will create that HISS sound as if it were hitting the mic. That creates a difficulty or limitation when trying to move around while vlogging. I still give it a 5 Star because it is pretty clean sound for the price and performs well in all its claims. This BOYA is my standard microphone for vlogging to date. I have been using this microphone for over a year, since May 13, 2019.

This is my 1st ever lavalier mic and I love it. The sound quality isn't great on my canon 80d so really needed this mic for better quality sound. I did some research and a great app to use with this mic for android and iphone is wave pad free. Just hook the mic to your phone then press record on the app and go. When I heard the quality of the recording of the mic it is amazing. It makes your voice sound crisp and crystal clear. I even tried using it while standing in front of the TV while it was on to see how well the mic would only pick up my voice and it did exceptionally well. Will be buying another one of these mics for my wife to have the greatest sound for our YouTube videos. One tiny problem was that the accessories were already out of the pack which was wierd. Would have given 4 stars but since the product was new and still in great working conditions I just gave 5 stars. Great product and I do recommend. This lav mic is pretty decent. My rode videomicro sounded much cleaer and didn't need any post editing. This has its uses though. Perfect for alot of situations. After post editing, audio quality was similar to the rode mic.

A couple of tips I haven't seen yet. I thought it was plugged into my phone all the way, but it wasn't. I took my phone out of its phone case, then plugged it in & it went in all the way. So if it isn't working for you, try it without the case on your phone. Another good tip if you can't get it to work: Instead of manual mode on your phone's camera, put it on Auto. The microphone wouldn't work for me at all until I did those 2 things. I was going to send it back because I couldn't get it to work, but I'm glad I kept messing with it & trying everything possible. So far it is working great & it sounds awesome! I'm so glad I got this! And it got here in 1 day!! Fantastic! So reminder: Remove your phone case, & put your camera on Auto mode instead of manual.

This mic is priced well and it is a remarkable product, very easy to work with and a great sound.. Long cord if need be and just an easy solution to a problem. Would purchase again for sure and can recommend this to anyone on a budget or not. Just a good product............

Really disappointed with the seller and the product. I brought Boya microphone after researching a lot on best budget microphones and had great reviews of the product. But the one I received either it is defective or I got duped. 1) For starters, while the product listed here is of Boya, the one I got is of Sevenoak. I understand that both are owned by same company but they should be changing the name of the product on Amazon as well. To my best guess, both products exists in market. 2) The microphone I received is not working. I am using Pixel 3 (android device) and there is no difference between my videos before and after I put on mic. I tried putting it on camera mode and smartphone mode one by one to try it out and see if anything works - but there is no difference, no noise cancellation - when I play it again to check. 3) The cord length seems good as it gives flexibility to use. 4) Would have loved to have some indicator/led on the device to see if the mic is even working or not.

It's less than $20 so I think that makes it a good value. It is well constructed with a nice sturdy clip and a good long cord. But be careful inserting the battery. It doesn't slip in easily and if you force it, you could bend the little spring inside the compartment and damage it. So angle the battery in carefully - with the curved side against the spring. It's a tricky little task so take your time doing it. It took me three tries before I got it lined up enough to slide it all the way in. (Also, there's an annoying little black ribbon installed at that spot - presumably to make battery removal easier. But the ribbon just gets in the way. Just pull it back out of the way and it'll make battery insertion a little easier. (I finally just cut the ribbon off and that helped.) The sound is . . . okay. Certainly not awful - but it's not really crisp. There's a very slight muddle - but not terrible. It's acceptable quality - but the built-in mic on your smartphone is better. So are most of the $50 dollar and higher lavalier and shotgun choices. So if your plan is higher-end video, you should skip this product and spend at least 3x the money on something with a cleaner, sharper sound. (It'll be worth it in the long run.) But if all you need is something for videoconferencing or occasional recording, this is a huge improvement over the sound of your laptop's built-in microphone. So you should absolutely buy it for that purpose . . . .

I purchased this little mic to improve the sound quality of both voice and music during the "stay at home" portion of the Covid-19 pandemic. The closer you get the mic to the source, but better "presence" and rejection of unwanted sounds. I expected some improvement just by having a mic closer to me, but I did not expect such a noticeable improvement! The 39 second recording is something I grabbed from my group of recordings, with this mic worn on my shirt, just below the camera field of view. When I used the phone microphone in previous recordings, the neighborhood sounds, cars, etc. were very intrusive. With this mic worn on my body, not only was the sound greatly improved by the quality of the mic, but also by having the mic so close to my mouth. The cord is VERY long and I could easily more than double the distance from the phone, but that was not required for this use. Please also note that if you use a standard camera, the included battery can power this as a condenser microphone for that extra signal. Yeah, I'd buy it again and might even get one for a gift for one of my colleagues. Watch the video and judge for yourself. No audio enhancement, just me, my Samsung S9, and this mic.
