## Overview

Jacquard iDye Poly Pink is a premium synthetic fiber dye designed to color polyester, nylon, and a wide range of synthetic materials including plastics and 3D printed objects. Packaged in a convenient dissolvable packet, it offers a mess-free, easy-to-use solution favored by cosplay artists and creative professionals seeking vibrant, lasting color on challenging surfaces.

## Description

iDye Poly is for synthetic fibers such as polyester and nylon. It will color almost anything synthetic, including plastics and acrylics, buttons, Frisbee discs, 3D printed objects, toys, dolls, wigs, urethane coatings and more The dye comes in a dissolvable packet, so there are never any messy powders to handle: simply drop the packet in a pot of water, add your fabric or objects and bring to a boil For fabric blends containing blended fabrics that contain both synthetic and natural fibers, use iDye Natural with the corresponding iDye Poly color at the same time. Or use a two different complementing colors to create a two-tone effect.

Review: Very good dye...much better than RIT! - This is very good dye. It's easy to use and doesn't stain anything except what you're dying. Apparently doesn't bleed, either. Using this was a much more pleasant experience than my last attempt at dying something with RIT. That said, I was trying to dye some ugly light green cotton/poly curtains a darker, prettier shade, and while they look much better now, they didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted. But that was probably on me, not the dye. Because I didn't have a big enough pot for the stovetop method, I used a front-loading washer. It says on the Jacquard website that you can do this, but my experience is that it's not recommended, at least not with big items like curtains. Supposedly the amount of dye was appropriate for two 84" panels, but I don't think there was enough water in the washer. Also, it was impossible to keep the water as hot as it should be. I have my hot water heater turned up all the way and also threw at least 8 quarts of boiling water into the washer, but it needs to be that hot for at least 1/2 hour of agitation and I don't think it was. Perhaps if my item had been smaller so it moved more freely in the water, the temp wouldn't have mattered so much. But whatever, I think my curtains would have been darker if I'd had more water and/or hotter water. Darker is what I wanted. It also didn't smell nearly as bad as some reviewers indicated. There *is* an odor, and I think it gave me a mild episodic headache, but it's not anywhere near overwhelming as long as you have your windows open and a decent cross breeze. Perhaps the really negative reviews about the odor were from people who couldn't or didn't open their windows, or maybe who have severe chemical sensitivities. In the past the odor might have bothered me a lot, but since I've improved my health my sensitivity to odors has remarkably diminished. So I didn't find it troublesome. I was very happy to find that there was no green residue left in my washer. I washed some old green and blue things (stuff that no longer bleeds) right after I got done with the curtains, and also threw a snow-white rag in there to see if there was any staining or residual dye left in the machine. Not a bit. So I consider this product a win. What I'm going to do is get a bigger pot and two packets of dye and try again, stovetop, following the directions precisely, doing only one curtain panel at a time. I liked this product enough to try again. My main quibble doesn't have to do with the product itself but with the desertcart listing. In desertcart product description it says for "100% natural fabrics", but then the picture of the product is of iDye Poly, which is only for synthetic fabrics or blends. I asked the seller a question on desertcart, which went unanswered. Decided to buy anyway, and what I actually received was iDye Poly, which would not have worked if I'd had 100% natural fabric like cotton or silk. But for synthetic fabrics and blends, highly recommended!
Review: Do the work, it takes time - Started with a very light mint green alpha direct polartec hoodie. The clothing is great, the color was not. I read about how to dye polyester and this seemed like it might be worth a shot. Getting that much water to boil was the hardest part. It was about 50deg outside (have to do this outside, the smell is strong) on a little one burner camping stove. That wasn't going to work. So I tried a propane torch. That added enough heat, but it was kind of scary. Your clothing must stay in the boiling water for at least 1/2 hour. And then it was a little difficult to get the smell out. I rinsed and rinsed and baking soda and vinegar. Finally it it odor free. Pros - it works. your clothing will change color. Cheaper than buying new clothing. mess-free Cons - must be done outdoors. Hard to predict exactly the resulting color. boiling water takes a while I like this dye and will probably use it again if I want to change the color of a piece of gear

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ unexpectedly great
*by S***T on August 2, 2024*

i’ve used clothing dies for a long time but it never comes out the way you want. this time i had a prada bikini that had purple shampoo explode all over it in my luggage. it was all stained and gross looking. i did everything it told me to do on the package and after a wash.. just wow. things you have to consider: 1) it stinks! so open up a window and turn your overhead fan on. 2) its hard to get the smell of the dye out of the clothes, so i hand washed it for a while and then threw it in the washing machine twice. i hand washed it so no dye would come out in the washing machine because this is POWERFUL stuff. 3) it did dye the red prada logo blue, so i’m unsure of what to do about that yet but maybe try taping it? i didn’t want to take it off and sew it back on, but i think it looks cool. but in the future i would probably tape my tags on clothing. overall this dye is powerful and will dye anything. i really recommend this dye instead of rit or any of those other dyes, especially for vintage clothing.
