We had it outside on his birthday but decided to bring it indoors and the kiddos play with it. I opted to not purchase the mat as I have one just like it in storage (I need to go grab it). What caused me to purchase this particular model was because upon reviewing several, what I liked most was the safety features (mainly the triangle bars that anchor each side. It seemed more stable because of those bars and I can confirm that due to the triangle bars (that not all of these have), it does indeed stabilize it much more. I also love that you can easily undo it and slide it flat again a wall for storage.
