Good razor. I use the Astra blades and always have a great shave with it. I also have the Henson razor and this one is just as good. I get a close shave and I hardly ever get razor nicks, if I do it’s only from old acne scabs. The razor has very little blade feel and has a good weight to the handle. The look is very nice too! Definitely my new daily shaver! Don’t be afraid to buy this if you’re on the fence or worried you’ll cut yourself like I was. This is a great razor! Happy shaving!

This is such an incredibly smooth shaver! I use this to shave my head, and it leaves my scalp very BBS! In my opinion, this is the perfect safety razor. It gives you everything you need, while also allowing you to be 100% comfortable while using it. You have zero fear using the Muhle R89, since it’s mild and you can be very nimble with it. Also, if you want to get more aggressive, you can always buy the Muhle R41 head, for only $25! Just like that, you have BOTH the Mild R89, and the Aggressive R41 in your hands!! or you can try different aggressive, razor blades as well, It’s incredibly important to try different blade combinations with ANY safety razor. Words CANNOT describe how important a razor blade is to ANY safety razor. If you pair the R89 with a very sharp razor blade, such as a Feather or a BIC Chrome Platinum, you’ll have my personal favorite combination. Which is a mild razor, with an aggressive/sharp razor blade, while staying a smooth shaver. I hope this review helps everyone. Happy shaving!

If you're looking for a high quality razor you can use every single day, look no further. Due to work status, I can't skip a day, and use my Mühle R41 any longer. I tried using my Merkur Futur adjustable, but that monster just could not be dialed down to be mild enough for an every day shaver. I broke out my Merkur 34C 'Sledgehammer", and it worked fairly well, but I thought it could be better. Enter the Mühle R89, and the game changed. Pair this baby with anything from a Bic or Wilkinson Sword (German made), down to the more mild end of the sharpness spectrum, and it will perform. As long as you have a decent technique, this is a FUN razor. I say decent technique, as in my opinion a novice can still damage themselves if they lack the foundations of grain mapping, angle, pressure, and soap selection. In the hands of an experienced shaver, go ahead and break out those blades you bought years ago, and hated... give them another shot in this razor, and see what happens. In my case, I have a love/hate relationship with Feather: they are next up on the "give them another go" list! Want a quality three-piece mild, yet effective razor? I have used a DE razor for years. This razor made by MUHLE is perfect for the price. It has the right angle of cut for obtaining a smooth shave without irritation. I have not knicked myself once,anywhere during shaving. The handle is the perfect length and diameter. The build quality is simple and precise for producing a relaxed grip as needed. MUHLE is a well built razor at a great price. I will continue to use their products.

I’ve been shaving my heavy, coarse facial hair for 45 years. I’ve had tried safety razors before but remember my father using them in the ’70s. I’ve done five shaves with the same Feather blade on this Muhle razor, and I haven’t gotten a single cut. You can do two passes or repeat in small strokes. I usually shave half my face with one side of the blade and the other half with the other side. I’m also using a solid Muhle shaving soap and a $10 brush from Amazon. I wish the handle was a bit longer, but this razor will still serve well as my travel razor. I plan to get the longer version for home use. I can’t believe I waited this long or that I was so afraid. At first, I was even hesitant to pick up the blade head, but I noticed the cutting edge is not exposed, making it safe to handle. I also bought a straight razor and ended up cutting myself on the third try as I gained confidence faster than I gained skill. That type of razor requires very careful attention. If the open comb version of the Muhle is anything like a straight razor, even with my thick beard, it’s unnecessary. The closed comb is safe and easy to use. This razor will now be my go-to gift for birthdays and holidays for all my friends.

There is a bit of weight to this razor, which is appreciated. the handle is somewhat short, but i think it's just what you're accustomed to. i think the shorter handle gives me better control. Really like this - no nicks and easy to use.

As I said, I can’t tell you yet because I haven’t used it. It looks fine, but it will be a while till I use it and I will need more blades.
