But my question is, do the mice get immune to its effect?** A: it's not something they can get immune to, the peppermint fumes interfere with some kind of receptors they have that are involved in their survival, to survive they have to be able to communicate with each other about what is dangerous and what is safe, and where their hang out is and things like this, and peppermint oil for one thing (not sure about the other ingredients) makes it so they can't identify the kinds of scents they need to survive (i was just watching a you tube video about this last night, though it was about ants or carpenter ants, but rodents also have receptors that need to be able to get clear signals and will avoid areas where those are blocked by stronger scents. Peppermint oil is also a powerful insect killer, i'm not sure if it has to be stronger than this, probably. This is advertised as repellent. i had a professional guy come out to my house and spray peppermint oil on a some wasp nests, he expressed more confidence in the regular poisons but i had researched it and seen it demonstrated on videos and i was confident. That was 2013, haven't seen a wasp since. **Q: Is this spray really effective? It doesnt kill the mice does it? Do they just exit the house?** A: I used this spray outside on a patio area where mice were partying under our furniture. Unfortunately, it did not keep them away. The old saying about the better mouse trap is a saying because NO ONE has found an end all method to be free of mice. That said, this is my second time buying this product because I DO BELIEVE it's working. Traps work for a time but they seem to come back after a few months. Peppermint oil works but only as long as you keep the place so covered with the stuff that your eyes burn and then when it wears off, the cure is over. That's the case with this product I'm sure, as well. It repels because they don't like the smell but IT also will wear off and need new applications. Only this stuff won't open your sinuses(even though peppermint oil is part of the formula) so it's much better and it comes with a very handy, far shooting spray so you can easily cover the spaces they might enter like under the garage door or along the patio door frame. It is not an unpleasant smell at all. Cold weather is upon us... perfect time to test since that's when we get an influx of mice in our old, 6 unit apartment building. So far we think this has been helpful. Let's see how it works when the next generation of vermin gets too cold to be field mice and try to come to be house mice! This spray came up when looking for ways to keep them from coming in. I made sure I cleaned my place from top to bottom and made sure there weren’t any holes in my closets as that was a huge problem when I first started having issues. I sprayed all the corners, closets, and the base boards in my kitchen. I also sprayed my dish rack because I saw droppings. The second night after spraying a mouse was on top of my chair which reminded me of a review about the spray in which the person took a picture of the mouse in the spray stream but its been a month and I spray the same areas every tuesday. Ask ANY pesk control expert (professional, or person who has actually dealt with rodent infestation) and the answer is the same: these sprays (and any essential-oil based home remedy like them) are completely worthless. Instead of reading the product reviews here, just Google it and you'll get your real answer. OR waste $25 and try this stuff and watch as the mice literally crawl around on top of surfaces you just saturated with it. I went outside and absolutely soaked the cracks around our cement porch where I'd seen the mice coming and going, as well as all over the screen in our basement window well, which a mouse has been using as a ladder to crawl into the window well. Within a half an hour I saw the mouse crawling around sniffing at the window screen and completely ignoring the dripping repellent as it happily nibbled at some grass blades. This let me confirm with my own eyes what the pros had written: even if slightly bothered by the scent in these repellents, mice are well adapted to survive. If they have found a warm, secure place to live they are NOT about to give that up.
