    Tough Nuts! Make sure your pliers can handle steel though...

These are the first rivet nuts I have bought but they seem to be well made and this a good price for the kit. For that reason, I am giving five stars even though I do not think they will work well for me. It is my first time to try using rivet nuts and I made the rookie mistake of buying a cheap pair of rivet nut pliers and trying to compress steel rivet nuts with them. I can probably get away with it using 10-24 nuts, but I'm pretty sure I should be using Aluminum rivet nuts instead of steel with my twenty dollar pliers. Aluminum will be strong enough to hold what I need and easier to compress. You could give yourself an aneurysm (or maybe just a hemorrhoid) trying to compress these 3/8 steel rivets with short handled pliers. If you used pipes to extend the handles for leverage, I'm pretty sure the pliers would fail. So if you are just starting to use rivet nuts be advised, but if you are looking for steel rivet-nuts, look no farther.
