Perfect Fit for 2006 Highlander Hybrid
Just thought I'd add a review since I've noticed that many websites having incorrect recommendations about which batteries will fit in the Highlander since they do not differentiate between the hybrid and non-hybrid versions. (Hybrid = Size Group 51R) So, the 5 star rating is purely for the fit---I will update this review if the battery does not perform comparably or better than the battery it's replacing--- it's an exact fit for the battery indentation at its base (where battery temp gage can monitor it accurately + keep it from sliding) as well as for the battery cover to slide down over top of it in a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. And for anyone else purchasing for this vehicle, here was my reasoning for choosing this particular battery: So, I was initially hesitant to buy this battery since it had a lower CCA (450) / CA (575) / RC (66) than its previous battery, which was an Autocraft Gold 51R-2 (standard lead-acid flood) battery with CCA 500, CA 625, RC 85 min. However, since the Highlander hybrid's engine is started by the traction battery and not the 12V battery (and therefore not utilizing peak CA draw), it's my presumption that having a deep cycle battery will hold up better in the long run since the '06 HH has a tendency to suck batteries dry in relatively short periods of time (which generates hybrid system fault codes if the 12V runs too low to run the controllers)---and since AGM batteries can accept a charge faster than a standard battery and have a slower self-discharge rate, it might tolerate the constant charging/discharging better over time. (Side note: the Autocraft battery was already above OEM requirements, so dropping to a lower CA battery should not be a problem in this instance.) In short: despite a lower peak & average cranking amps, I'm thinking that the YellowTop's more favorable charge/discharge properties (and longer lifespan) may make this a better choice for my vehicle. ***UPDATE, 3 YRS OUT*** Lasted almost exactly 3 years; not holding a charge like it should now, but still useable until the replacement arrives with an occasional booster charge. I think what finally did it in was when the battery had a total discharge when I was gone for around 3.5 months in the winter - didn't seem to hold a charge properly afterward (using an AGM smart charger), though it worked for several weeks. I think the lifespan was acceptable given that it was always outside in the Sacramento-heat / triple-digit summers. I plan to purchase this again.

JUNK!
Bought this thinking it would be the standard the OPTIMA name once was. NOPE! The battery is junk! I have had to take it to be charged so many times, I finally bought a battery charger. The thing is not worth the $ we spent on it! It was on a trickle charge for 6 hours and it only reached 4 volts and the highest I have ever gotten it to get is 12 and it was dead an hour later. If you have to buy a battery, pick a different one!

Works. Is what it says it is
Works for v2 leaf. Car starts. No issues. Leafs have an issue in that they actually need a minimum of 12v. ≈v is NOMINAL voltage (sort of like average. Batteries are like balloons) this means that if a battery doesn’t have at least 12v in it, it doesn’t work, and a ≈12v battery can be below 12v. So I spent more on a battery that holds more to get longer. The other options were LiPO (which is ≈12.3, but will not charge off the alternator unless you spend a grand on one) or frequent battery replacement and occasional dead car (very bad). This seemed like a safe solution.

Not worth the price
NOT SO GREAT. Didn’t last 3 months and had to return for a refund.

Great battery so far.. I like Optima Batteries.
Great battery so far. I have this in my 2000 Honda Civic and it performs and is stronger ignition starts. I also have a booming system in the car so this battery helps. I have also noticed at night my lights wont dim when the bass hits and I dont have a capacitor in the car. Ive owned one a long time ago in my truck and it lasted years.

So far, so good. My OEM Civic battery failed after only 13 months of use. So, while the OEM battery is under warranty, I needed something fast while waiting for the dealership to test and authorize a replacement, so I ended up buying this yellow top. So far, so good. It has been in the vehicle for only a month, but the vehicle starts fine when the temperature is below -30°C and if the car is idle for 5 or 6 days, it starts up right away. The fitment was perfect and the carrying handle makes it easy to transport and install into the battery tray.

Compared to any stock battery, this battery wins, always. Canadian winter vs. this in a 2012 honda civic, it starts on the first turn, EVERY time.

Ordered on a Sunday, received Monday evening. Installed it and it fit perfectly. I wanted a bigger Yellow or Red Top with more CCA but this one is alright. I have a friend who has a yellow top and he barely drives his car plus stores it in the winter and he doesn't store the battery any special way. He just disconnects it. And that was a selling point for me as I drive my car everyday so I should never have a problem with it. Item came well package and I'd definitely recommend it.

I purchased an Optima D51R Yellow Top in July 2019. The battery worked fine, but has recently died and will no longer take a charge. Optima clearly states this item has a 36 month warranty and all warranty logistics, etc. will be handled by the retailer - easy enough... The problem is, Canada Direct is NOT an authorized dealer for Optima products! They have tried to tell me it's only got a 30 day warranty, that I need to take it up with Optima, that I need to start a warranty claim/case with Optima and hand it off to them, etc. BASICALLY EVERYTHING EXCEPT STANDING BEHIND THE 'PREMIUM' PRODUCT THEY SOLD ME! BUYER BEWARE - IF YOU CAN FIND THE OPTIMA BATTER YOU NEED ELSEWHERE, GET IT. CANADA DIRECT WILL HANG YOU OUT TO DRY ON A ~$400 BATTERY IF IT STOPS WORKING WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD!
