The base is heavy and so really stable. Was easy to put together, except for the very top piece, which was a little bit tricksy... Meaning, you have to line it up absolutely precisely and push down until it catches on the piece underneath. However, once you do get it together it's not going anywhere. Regarding the top piece, while I'm on it... You should untangle the chain, if necessary, so that it looks like the photo I provided. Follow instructions for the shade and you have a REALLY lovely old-fashioned standard lamp. Looks exactly like the picture and matches with my antique couch and chair perfectly! One word of warning about the polystyrene packaging. It WILL go everywhere. I was really careful, and it still made a mess, BUT it's very safely and securely packed, and the end product is extremely worth it!

This floor lamp is exactly what I was looking for. It's heavy and stable and looks very expensive. It was super easy to assemble - just take your time when lining up the pole parts to make sure it stands straight. It was packaged with Styrofoam - a little messy with the cleanup, but worth it, as all the parts arrived undamaged and intact. I'm using it in a dark corner of my living room, and using a 15-watt bulb, it gives off a soft and pleasing ambiance to the room - just what I was looking for. The price is easy on the wallet too. All in all, I'm VERY happy with this purchase and highly recommend.

Overall, I really like this lamp. The base is nice and heavy - important in a household with a couple boisterous cats! It was very easy to assemble - the help of another person was not required, nor were tools. Although the base of the lamp is nice and heavy, the decorative parts of the lamp near the bulb felt cheap; however they do look nice. I thought the lampshade was well made and its design clever; however, it is out of proportion for the lamp. Fortunately I had another lampshade on a table lamp that was too big for it, so I swapped them out. Very happy now with both lamps! I would have given it five stars if the shade was better proportioned, but really can't complain since it resolved my other problem. The new lamp seems to work well; I bought it to replace another lamp that seemed to be shorting out. So far so good!

I'm so glad I decided to trust the 5-star reviews instead of the 1-star which usually drive me away from something I want. The last one I bought on amazon had a base of cheap plaster which was broke all to pieces by the time it got here (made it sound like it was wood). So many complaints on all these lamps about wobbly poles since you have to assemble 3 sections which often won't even connect together - this fits so solid you can't even see the joints. Very classy looking - I used an old larger shade to give more coverage of light beside my recliner. The shade that came with it is pretty small, but expanded from flat as a pancake to a very solid and pretty shade. Just too small. I highly recommend this lamp to anyone needing a floor lamp- the oldfashioned kind with a solid brass pole just isn't made anymore because it's too expensive to ship. My old swing-arm 30 years old recently died the reason I started looking for a new one.

This lamp has a heavy sturdy base and was easy to assemble.just carefully screw the poles in place. It is just the right height and the cloth shape is thick and a beautiful creme color. It comes with a newel post. It was well packed in styrofoam and all parts were in great shape. Took me 10 minutes to put together. The shade structure snaps in place and the instructions were easy to follow. Although the top part is made of plastic, it looks like metal. It looks expensive. The hanging on off knob adds to the look and pulls easily. All in all a great buy for a great price. I got it during Amazon big deal day October 10th and 11th. If you're looking for an elegant lamp that looks expensive is sturdy, easy to assemble but easy on the wallet, look no further.

Likes: The BASE is sturdy & heavy. Super easy to assemble, didn't even look at directions. Like the pull cord, not 100% it won't break. Dislikes: Shade was flat in box, is some wrinkled, even after on lamp. I think the shade looks better IN the ad, it is cheap looking! To me, the shade is almost a "drum" type, is not that flattering. IN the ad description, made it sound like bulb comes with it, it does NOT! Disappointed in that, luckily I had A19 which can be used interchangeably. "On the fence" about keeping it, too pricey for what it is!

The floor lamp is in a setting surrounded by a100 year old (plus) wind up Victrola, wooden high chair, large slide projector from the 1920s, and a 100 year old wooden Bissel carpet cleaner and fits right in. All of these Amazon floor lamps require assembly, all come with packing that tends to crumble and make a mess, and lamp shades that also require some degree of assembly. I purchased this particular lamp with this shaped lamp shade because I really am not fond of lampshades with a visible seam where the fabric has been stuck together. This one required a different kind of assembly, snapping the metal supports into place. I really like the look. However, I would suggest wearing gloves for this part of the assembly, because I managed to pinch my finger resulting in a small blood blister. Not worth deducting a star because the finished product looks just like I imagined it would from the picture in the ad.

The lamp shade came wrinkled. Unable to straighten it out. The actual pole is very nice. I’m hoping it will straighten out on its own.

The lamp overall looks good. I would have liked to see a better quality of shade and a better quality of mental but from the lamps that I checked out it is by far the best for the money.
