Review: Fantastic sound & easy transport - Compared a bunch of different systems & this it the best! You get high end quality sound without the price tag. I use for karaoke & appreciate how easy & light it is to transport. It also takes up less space than a traditional speaker on a stand. Paired it up with a Mackie 6 channel and it's perfect. I do recommend getting the matching carrying cases.
Review: Nice clean sound, plenty of reserve power - My wife and I have a duo that performs at various venues, primarily Nursing homes and assisted living facilities but we sometimes perform some shows in covered pavilions at campgrounds. We received the Maui last night and had a chance to set it up this morning. We currently have another well known brand compact tower speaker that we have been using for about 8 years. That has worked fine for smaller venues, but once in a while at a larger venue the one we currently have just can't fill the space. So after looking at some different options on line I ordered the Maui 5 and all I can say is WOW. With no changes to our XR18 mixer settings the Maui just sounds cleaner than our older rig. We had not noticed this "muddier" sound with the old system until we tried the Maui. I had seen one review that said that highs weren't crisp as if there was foam wrapped around the top. Perhaps that reviewer had received a defective unit. My wife who has a very critical ear immediately said that the Maui was much cleaner than the old system and she was hearing instruments that were not clear with the old system. This may be due to having control over the sub-woofer level and also having treble boost control on the Maui. But it just sounds great and has plenty of reserve power from what we can see. Whenever I see "peak power" wattage ratings I take those with a salt shaker of salt. But in the quick tests we have done in our rehearsal studio it has plenty of punch, and we are not pushing it at all. For our typical venues this will be more than adequate, but for larger venues we will need to use the Maui along with our older tower system to be able to get the coverage we need. I am going to experiment with our mixer EQ with the old tower system to see if I can clean it up a bit more, and then adjust the Maui accordingly. If I can't get the old tower system to sound as clean as the Maui then I'll sell the old one and order another Maui 5 to use at larger venues. Of course we've only done some limited testing at this point but right now we are very happy with the Maui and will be using it on our next gig to see how it performs there. If there are any negatives at first look they would be: 1 - No protective bags/covers are included. Those are extra cost options. 2 - The tower seems a bit wobbly, especially if you have both of the extensions in place. The design of the older tower system locked the tower extensions in more securely. Not that the Maui arrangement will easily topple over, but there is definitely more "play" in the tower if you push on it. That said it is easier to plug in the extensions and the upper speakers on the Maui. 3 - It would be nicer if there were output(s) to allow you to daisy chain to another tower, but we can work around that by running a separate cable from our external mixer to the second tower speaker.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will the speakers still work even it is not attached to each other?**
A: There’s only one actual speaker, the others are just spacers. You can use all, one or none of the spacers and the speaker will work.

**Q: Can I play mp3 tracks, play electric guitar and sing, all at once on this unit?**
A: Yes you can!

It has four channel mixer for all of those needs, plus one for blue tooth.

I hope this info helps!

**Q: I use a harmonizer for vocals and for guitar.. a tc helicon play acoustic. can either the vocal or guitar be pluged into the rear mixer inputs?**
A: I own the big brother of this unit (the Maui 28)
I also own a TC Play Acoustic.
Yes you can send the Mic XLR out and the guitar XLR out right into the back of the unit. I've done it with my Maui 28 a few times when I didn't have an external mixer with me. I would switch the output to Stereo out in the TC Helicon settings. If going into separate channels on a board, change it back to DI outputs which separates and processes the guitar and mic outputs on the TC Play Acoustic separately. When going into the Maui 5, you want to make it into that stereo out which will work best. It's simple and works great. Then you have another mic in and guitar in besides your Play Acoustic going through. I would consider waiting for the new Maui 5 Go which comes out in a month or so. It has a lithium ion battery in it giving versatility of setting the system up anywhere without needing to plug in. It also has a direct out of the system which the normal maui 5 doesn't have. This means that you simply connect another maui 5 to create more sound and a stereo configuration without the need of an outboard mixer. (just daisy chain them).

**Q: Can the Line inputs in the back take left and right powered mixer outputs? (Mackie 1202 series)**
A: Yes, if you have two LD Maui 5 units, one unit can take the left powered mixer line output in the back jack of the unit, and the other can take the right powered mixer line output in the back jack. Though I prefer putting the mixer line inputs into the microphone jack of each unit for added amplification.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ High quality sound for a very reasonable price.

Small and relatively lightweight, high-quality PA system. Claims of feedback rejection are overstated in my brief experience.
