All the best... **Q: do you need to add powder to metal bret electrolytic cleaning plate?** A: Yes you have to add the powder. The two work together to form a chemical reaction that removes tarnish. Believe it or not, this stuff actually works. I'm on my second order of the Activator Pack. My wife swears by it. Found out it was BRONZE!! Lots of copper in that, hence the copper color. First handle I used Brasso, took 45 minutes of rubbing. Exhausting and stinky. My friend loaned me her metal brite plate and activator powder. I only had about 6 tablespoons of the powder. So I followed the directions closely, but I modified a little bit since I was short of additional product at the time. I dipped the handle for 15 minutes at a time. Then I would heat the water in the microwave, clean the plate, and dip it again for 15 more minutes. So I kind of cheated I guess, but it worked! 3 dips later, 70 years of tarnish was GONE. It was minimal effort and I will never polish anything again by hand like a neanderthal! I can learn new tricks!!
