It is heavy grade, though not unmanageable; pretty much what I was expecting and will probably last a lifetime. I use it on a gas stovetop and it cooks very well. The sidewalls and channels on both sides do a good job of capturing and containing any grease - including when cooking bacon. It also cleans up fairly easily. It is cast iron so you do have to treat it to maintain it but this is no different from the other cast iron cooking gear I own and use every day. If I had a complaint it would be that the casting grains are very sharp and shred anything I try to wipe it with but I expect this will be less of an issue as I use it more. Overall, this is highly recommended, a good size and weight, and it will get a lot of use. I have a special scrubber made especially for cast iron. (Amazon… KITCHEN-PRO Cast Iron & Pyrex & Stainless Steel Skillet Chainmail Scrubber) Works great with just a TINY drop of soap (I use Ivory liquid) then rinse well. I also use a cast iron scrubbing brush for hard to reach areas. It works with an induction stovetop bridge configuration, despite the fact that it does not lie flat on my stovetop. The only drawback is the risk of scratches to my glass top. And breakage, too, I suppose. This is super heavy. I wish it was lighter in construction.
