Desperate for pain relief - day 3
It's Monday morning and this came to me Friday night (so Friday I only got to use it once before bed). I used it Saturday 3 times and Sunday 3 times. I was feeling desperate because this aching tennis elbow has lasted for months now. I got mine when I had to do a repetitive motion using my mouse and keyboard 22,000 times in the span of 3 days. Killed me ever since. It was invading my sleep - I'd wake up aching. Turning over in bed, I'd wince at the pain of having to lift my arm. Couldn't lift my coffee cup. Really didn't want a cortisone shot - I'm a scaredy cat :( So I looked online for remedies. I found an article that talked about the Theraband Flexbar and I read the reviews. It's cheap enough to be considered a "wth, I'll go for it" purchase. The instructions online on YouTube were helpful. I started the exercises and the first couple hurt - but it's one of those good hurts, like when you stretch a back that's in pain. As you do the exercises, it starts feeling better. The last 2 mornings, I've woken up realizing I got a good night's sleep. I can lift my coffee cup again. It's still sore, but not as bad. Now one thing I want to mention is what I did. I did the usual twist exercise as the video and instructions tell you to (I did 15 reps 3 times a day). I also do it whenever my arm aches because after the first one, it feels better. I also found one video from a doctor who said to find the most tender spot on your elbow and rub it vigorously horizontally, not vertically down the length of your arm. So I did that. He said it helps improve circulation to the spot and heal the inflammation. So I do that. What you're looking for, he said, is for it to hurt for half a minute and then go numb. If you get that numb/feel better feeling, then it's working. If not, don't do it. I have that, so I do it every time I do my exercises, afterwards. I also found another exercise to strengthen my arm using the Flexbar. You hold the end of the bar with the majority of it sticking upright. Then extend your arm and just wiggle the bar back and forth front-ways and then side-ways. It also hurts a bit, but you can put your other arm on the affected one and feel how it's using those muscles. I don't do this as often. Really pleased with this. Even if it didn't improve anymore than where it's at now, I'd be happy. But I can only see it getting stronger and less painful the more I do it. I'll report back after a couple of weeks. UPDATE: It's now been a couple of weeks. My arm is great! It is a teeny tiny bit sore, but I use this Flexbar all throughout the day - just 1-2 twists anytime it starts to hurt (probably 6 twists total every day). I made a video now to help show you what I learned about using it. What helps. Basically, I keep it by my bed to twist 1-2 times when I wake up. I keep it on my desk to twist if I'm every busy doing lots of keyboard to mouse stuff and it gets sore. I even take it in my car because if I'm running tons of errands and it ever gets achy or stiff, I do 1-2 twists at the stop light and I'm good to go! Really happy I found a solution without having to get cortisone shots. I'll probably order the next levels of resistance soon.

Great product for hand strength building !
I had neck surgery in February and had extensive physical therapy & used this product in my p.t. Sessions . I purchased this product to continue with home exercises. It is wonderful! I’m building strength in my hands , that was decreased from nerve impingement prior to my surgery. I would highly recommend this product for hand strength building.

Not an overnight cure, but a cure nonetheless
Don't go in expecting a miracle overnight fix. For some people, it's true that it makes immediate, obvious progress. For others, like me, it's more gradual - BUT, that doesn't mean it isn't helping! It is incredibly helpful for me where other things were not, and I absolutely recommend it. I'm someone who does a lot with their hands. I do digital art, I cross stitch, I play piano, I play video games, I use my computer for hours every day. Unfortunately, around October of last year, I incurred a bad wrist injury after pushing myself too hard. After seeing a doctor, the diagnosis turned out to be medial epicondylitis (a type of tendinosis colloquially known as 'golfer's elbow', as opposed to the more common 'tennis elbow'/lateral epicondylitis). I tried a lot of things - most wrist exercises seemed to help very little or even aggravate the injury, splints didn't seem to achieve much, and while icing my wrist seemed to help, it wasn't always practical, especially in the middle of Winter. I was having trouble using my drawing tablet for even ten minutes or playing my 3DS for an hour without residual pain for days. I got the Light flexbar (the red one) back in July of this year, and while it hasn't been the drastic overnight change some experience, it has definitely made a world of difference for my injury. I started off doing 5 Tyler Twists twice a day, then added in the reverse Tyler Twist after a week or so. Now I'm up to 10 three times a day, if I can remember to. I try to do it before and/or after starting an activity that I know can agitate my wrist. Even just doing a few after the fact is usually enough to mitigate all or almost all of the pain. Now I can draw for hours and experience very few side effects compared to before. I can feel the difference it's made in my wrist, just flexing it I can tell that the muscles have built up strength. No more elbow twinges, no more pain in my wrist tendons. I feel like I'm slowly getting back every single hobby I'd given up on for months. If you've struggled with tendonitis/tendinosis and are having trouble finding something that works, absolutely give this a try. Start out slow and work your way up. Make sure you're doing the right exercise for the right injury (Tyler Twist for tennis elbow, Reverse Tyler Twist for golfer's elbow, though I do both the reverse twist is definitely more beneficial to me). Watch Youtube videos to make sure you have the right technique. Be patient and give it a few weeks if you're having trouble seeing progress at first.

These bars are great. I have some on and off shoulder, wrist and hand pain and I have had a couple bouts of tennis elbow in the past. I'm getting old, but I refuse to accept the aches and pains that come with it. I use these nearly every night while watching tv. I'm an average sized guy and I started with the green. It was good and I continue to use it, but I went ahead and got the red. I use both. If I feel a little shaky with certain exercises, I'll use the red. Also the green might get a little intense if I am trying to make it through an hour show. I can work with the red for long periods. Great stress relief as well while watching the news. There are tons of exercises online. I tend to just make stuff up. I do a lot of mechanical work and I try to come with exercises that simulate work. I am often twisting these bars at arms length or over my head or behind my back. My 'made up' exercises end up comparing to published exercises. If you are treating a specific problem, follow professional advice. If you just want to strengthen forgotten muscles, use your common sense figure out what you need to do. These bars have helped me avoid pain and gave me more strength and flexibility from my shoulders down to my fingers for working with wrenches and other twist tools in tight areas.
