This umbrella is perfect!
I have gone though 4 umbrellas so far and this is the only one that is Marine suitable, there are no non-stainless metal parts, except the tubes which are aluminum. All the previous umbrellas had metal parts that rusted and made a mess of our boat. Another great feature is, you don't need a rod holder, it comes with a soft/firm bottom boot that you place on the deck of the boat and support it by the 4 tethers. Our boat has the rod holder but we rented a pontoon that did not and it worked perfectly. A real sun saver here in the Florida heat!

Not for use underway. Great product for shade at anchor.
This is easy to put up, stable, provides a nice amount of shade, quick to put away and store. The provided storage sleeve does a great job of packing the umbrella away when you're not using it. Other reviewers have complained that this umbrella is less solidly built than previous umbrellas, but I don't have experience to give an opinion on that. It seems solidly built but it is definitely not made for use while underway. We put it up in a light breeze, perhaps five knots, and it was plenty stable. It would be silly to try to use this umbrella while underway. At the moment I don't want to install a permanent Bimini top on my boat so this is a great alternative when you need shade at anchor.

Great alternative to pricier options
Great alternative to pricier options. I bought two, one for the bow of a 28’ cc and one for the cockpit area. Does the job almost as well as shade systems that cost thousands. Easy to set up. Wish it were a bit bigger but this is a great option

Poor quality
If you're looking for a good quality product for your boat, stay away from these. Received a beat up box re taped, can only assume it was a return. Opened it up and it was half assembled, had to disassemble to fix a latching issue which was not easy with the cheap plastic parts. Mine will end up in the trash and move on to better quality.

Keeps the sun off
This is my second one, first one lasted ten years before the plastic disintegrated. Will work at trolling speed. Get a dark color for better shade the white one lets a lot of light through and when hot you will notice the difference

shipped product had been returned and had a broken part
The shipping box had previously been opened and crudely repackaged. Definitely a "reship". One of the shafts on the center yoke to which the ribs attach was broken. The ribs must be placed properly to snap them in place or you can break the connecting shaft. I suspect the initial purchaser broke the shaft and sent the umbrella back. Without close examination, the item was accepted, placed back in stock and than shipped to me. I had the part from a prior umbrella and not wanting to ship it back as we are on vacation at the beach, spent several hours replacing the broken part. It now works, but wanted you to be aware.

Works great!
We use this on the boat and in the water. If I had room on my boat, I’d order another one.
