Yardley English Lavender by Yardley of London for Women Eau De Toilette Spray, 1.7 Ounce

Bought for my wife for her birthday she is very happy with it.

I bought the Yardley Lavender spray hoping it was the same I knew years ago. The scent is different I find it hard to smell the lavender in this fragrance. But, it is a nice fragrance.

I wanted something soft, feminine, and light for the summer months, and I remembered Yardley's Old English Lavender Soap from many years ago. I could not find it in stores locally, so of course I checked Amazon. I was delighted to find the soap, and I was even more delighted to find the Eau de Toilette, which I had not used before. It arrived yesterday, and I spritzed it on after my evening bath with the soap. I am very pleased with this purchase. The fragrance is just as I remember it from thirty or more years ago. It is very soft, very feminine, and very light. This is not a scent that will overpower you or anyone around you. The sillage is perhaps one to two feet. The scent is not very long lasting (it had disappeared by morning), but it is very pleasant for a few hours, especially if you apply it liberally. If you apply it in the a.m., you will probably want to reapply it after lunch. If you apply it before bed, it will get you through the night just fine. I gave it four out of five stars because it is not long lasting. Yardley Old English Lavender is such a wonderfully simple, gentle, sweet, and demure scent. If only more things in life could be so nice and so uncomplicated.

Does not smell anything close to the original. I wanted Lavender. This is a blend of I don’t know what. Smells more like men’s cheap cologne. Actually irritates my eyes. After washing it off, I gave the bottle to my husband. I am done with looking for scents of yesteryear, I guess you can’t go back!

I have known about this product for ages, and ages! It is that old....!! But is remains true to the original smell of clean fresh Lavender, that made it a favorite throughout several countries , and generations!! People, often ask me what is the name of the perfume I am wearing, because it smells so clean, and is not offensive. I am glad the English people are not swayed by the wave of fashions, and kept this item alive!! It is cheap, but it does not smell like it is!

I love this scent. I have looked for over a year to find a distinctly lavender smell in perfume. Lavender on it's own can be overpowering, so people add in other substances. While this perfume does the same, they make a nice balance. This is not overpowering, nor overstated, but a calm relaxing scent that mixes well with my own smell. I think it's great to spray in the room before going to sleep because it gives a really nice ambiance. I love this product and will buy it again.
