Great book. I’ve been interested in swords my entire life. I learned more about swords and their design in the first 30 pages then in my entire life. I’m a serious researcher and collector of swords and this book while very basic does fill in some holes especially in the less known and very early sworso

Beyond Forged in Fire
The amount of information and technical details on swords in this book is amazing. You have to admire the ancient swordsmiths for their skill, and the book brings out all sorts of information and insights that will surprise and enlighten you. If you have any interest in swords, this is a great read and a terrific present for any Forged In Fire fan.

Good reference book with expansion of the Oakeshott typology of European swords. Some excellent pictures of swords including a good discussion of the Grandmesser. Good technical information on sword making. Weak on later European swords eg. backswords etc. No real focus on Asian swords outside of Japan. On use I would say the book is more opinion than provable fact. Entertaining and useful but not quite as authoritative as the author suggests. reasonable investment for a sword enthusiast.
