My backup is a Drobo unit with two 1 TB drives. I installed the NTI Backup Now Ez 2010 software and followed the simple instructions on the screen. The software was slow to start and slow to run. When the software finally got going, it identified the files I wanted to backup and found my Drobo drive. I indicated a schedule of 6PM...it was then 5:50pm. Waited for the software to start my backup. The backup supposedly started...but wait...in the lower left corner of the screen, an error message with a big red circle and a big white x. The message "Backups not started". At this point the software simply froze. Nothing I could do would make it reset or do anything. Frustrated, I removed the software and reinstalled it again. Still very slow program. I carefully performed the setup all over again. Got the same error message and a freeze. Reinstalled it two more times. Same problem. Their goal is to quickly get you off the phone, not help. The software is a bit to be desired as well. Never got my restore to work. I had to restore my files manually by cut/paste. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Backups running smoothly for me *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2012* I just installed NTI EZ Backup that I bought last January.I had the issue with my key not working because I had installed the product on two previous hard drives. Called customer support to find out what I was doing wrong. "Did you buy it directly from the company?" "WHY?! If I bought it at a store you won't back it up?" She dropped that. Next. "You've installed it two previous times in six months" in an accusing tone. "Yes, I had two hard drives die!" She dropped THAT, and arranged for my key to be reactivated. It is ridiculous to put people through that for some cheap low level piece of software.BAckup of selected files ran smoothly and fast. I don't know if future backups would be incremental because no manual and the help files don't say.Now, both Windows 7 backup and restore and Paragon refused to even back up selected files or hung up part way through, so this is a first.Backup of hard drive went smoothly as well. If it backed up running system files or not, there is no way provided to know. If it would restore properly I've no way to know. Of course, I'm not trusting any given company's imaging. Not even Windows, which looks the most straightforward. If you ever want to see clear as mud, try Paragon's manual.After reading all the comments here about NTI running an application in the background and services, that may freeze up one's system or interfere with other things from running, I turned off the app that continued running in the background and used msconfig to keep NTI's services - 2 or 3 of them - from loading at startup. It would be nice to have weekly automatic backups of my critical files, but I can run them manually as I want to. Hopefully that works.Frankly I'm finding Windows 7 (Home premium, service pack 1) to be generally about as stable as a castle built upon sand, and I've had alot of trouble with programs preventing Windows from fully booting into the desktop that must be reversed with System Restore before the system will even run. If you want to see a process hang up in the middle or fail to run, try Windows' own backup facility. Its CD burning application works when it feels like it and disables your dvd drives when it doesn't.
