I opened my GMC and cut the 2 zip-ties. I then removed the glass Chinese Geiger tube that comes with it. A J something tube. I then had to pull the two Geiger tube retainer clips off with pliers and a soldering iron gently. Move both to their farthest apart positions. Press the clips into the holes gently while heating the rear of the board gently. Flux brushed onto the new holes may help adhesion prior to resoldering the retainers into their new farther apart positions. Make sure tube is installed the correct polarity. Both tube and board are marked so there’s no confusion. It doesn't come with a data sheet at all. That being said, a little research into the nature of the device(s) will yield suitable guesstimates. These are low current, fairly low (280 - 350) volt tubes and they're SLOW, so don't expect to get good science out of them. Wikipedia has a little bit of data on them, and a few trial runs with cheap isolation type electronics can give you some solid state circuitry, but they're really designed for the vacuum tube era and mate perfectly with old triodes. Don't try juicing it up, look at the operating curve for the reason why. Good luck to you, they're interesting tech toys. You DO need a really clean DC supply and adequate shielding for the counter, otherwise you'll be swamped with noise. **Q: If the tube is sensitive to gamma radiation, will it also work for X-rays as well?** A: Yes, the tube will detect x-rays, however there are no specifications for x-ray sensitivity so performance is not guaranteed. I will say that other customers are using it to detect x-rays and have been satisfied by the performance. **Q: How do you properly pack/store this device in your luggage? Will anything happen to it if it passes through an X-ray machine?** A: This should not be a problem. The biggest risk is shock or crush damage. Make sure to protect the tube from being accidentally dented or crushed, as the tubes are very fragile! I recommend a sturdy box or plastic enclosure to protect the tube, and sufficient bubble wrap to keep the tube from rattling around inside the box. As an aside, these tubes can be used to detect x-rays, but I do not recommend attempting to this in an airport security line. Close that back up and enjoy your increased sensitivity. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Muon Counter *by M***T on July 7, 2023* I got 2 of these with two of the geiger boards. Plugged these in. Ran the output wire from each unit to a little $7 microchip that was a logic chip. It was a "AND" chip. Only if both tubes send a signal at the same time does the "AND" chip turn on. Stack the tubes, separated by sheets of lead. Only a cosmic-ray induced MUON can penetrate two sheets of lead and two geiger tubes a the "same" time.
