Perfect fit and Nice Quality
Our ice maker finally gave up the ghost after about 15 years. We have an Amana side-by-side refrigerator with an ice maker in the door. The model number on our old ice maker unit was S 106 626640. I admit that I had a little trouble cross-referencing this exact number, it did not show up on any replacement list I could find. That said, I was able to go directly to the Supco web site where they gave a lot more information about these ice makers - which I knew nothing about before I started. I ordered this unit because everything suggested it should replace nearly 90% of the ice makers out there. I guess I had no idea that ice makers like this were such a drop-in commodity. The RIM900 model from Supco was a nearly identical replacement for my ice maker. I ended up having to re-use the wiring harness from my old ice maker, which I was okay with since the harness was in perfect condition. I also had to remove the wire lift-arm and re-use my old lift arm. My old arm has an additional wire attached to it - apparently so the ice level won't get as high. Swapping both of these items on the new ice maker was simple, self-explanatory, and took only seconds. The pamphlet that came with the new ice maker said that I should wait at least several hours before deciding if the unit worked or not. Apparently the ice maker must reach 10º F before it will even fill the water tray. In my case that only took about an hour, the manual indicates it could be as much as 12 hours. For my repair, and in my freezer, the unit began dumping ice within 5 hours of the repair. After about 12 hours had passed the unit had made a few rounds of ice. I am very pleased. The unit is practically a drop-in replacement for the old unit on my Amana side-by-side, model # ARSE67RBB, with ice maker model # S_106_626640. I purchased this replacement unit RIM900 made by Supco. I'm not sure how to describe the "quality" of the unit, it is virtually identical to what came out of the fridge in almost every detail - and it functioned perfectly on the first shot. It has made several batches of ice since then. I did learn something very obvious, that I just didn't consider: If the unit makes some small ice cubes and some large ice cubes ... you may want to check how level your fridge is from front-to-back, and from side-to-side. If the fridge isn't level, the water in the tray won't freeze level and you'll get different sized ice cubes. You can either tweak the level of the ice maker itself by loosening screws, leveling the unit, and retightening them. Or, I suppose, just check that your entire fridge is level.

Putting ice out three hours after installed
It was very easy to install. Took metal arm from old ice maker, installed on this one, same with connector (old one fits new unit). I turned refrigerator off and disconnected unit from wall outlet but kept the door closed as much as possible while replacing. First batch of ice in 3 hours. Amazing (I expected to find ice next morning). No need to tinker with water level adjustment or anything else. Elongated mounting holes allowed to place in a perfectly horizontal position. Working flawlessly for 3 days already. Excellent price, fast shipping and awesome product quality. Instructions included troubleshooting steps which were not needed but helps knowing you can check the unit if something goes wrong.

The ice produced of a better quality than the original-UPDATE: TOO DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH!
I was looking to replace my 2 door Viking side by side refrigerator/freezer ice maker model 106-626639. It was difficult to be sure that the Supco RIM900 can fit the bill. I took the risk once I knew that the physical dimensions are similar. I received the package on time, and it took me less than 15 minutes to proceed with the replacement. I had to cut a small piece of plastic in the back of the fill reservoir to accommodate the fill hose, and reuse the cable harness. The ice maker started producing ice after a couple of hours (I discarded the first few batches produced overnight). In summary: 1. I saved at least $200.00 by ordering this ice maker compared to the Viking OEM model. 2. The package arrived on time with the instructions you need to install the ice maker. 3. The ice produced by this unit is of a better quality than the one that came with the refrigerator. 4. The ice maker is well built and I expect it to last. Should it disappoint me, I will update this review. UPDATE: I gloated about this ice maker when I bought it and I even forgot that I wrote a review. The ice maker stopped working a couple of years later, and we decided to stop using and get an over the counter ice maker which we were very happy with. Our refrigerator did not have an ice dispenser anyway, so it was not a big change. Recently, our refrigerator needed repair and I decided to have a look at the ice maker to make it functional. To my surprise, I found many spots where the paint has chipped from the body of the ice maker (see photos). Knowing what I know now, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ICE MAKER, YOUR HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE FEW $$ YOU MAY SAVE BY BUYING THIS UNIT!!!!

This Supco RIM900 icemaker unit appears to be very high quality and is almost identical to the original icemaker (626636). It replaced the original icemaker perfectly, using the wiring harness removed from the original unit. The original ice maker needed to be replaced because the water valve switch contacts in its control module were burned out due to a bad water valve drawing too much current (the water valve also needed to be replaced). I'm pretty sure that the Supco replacement icemaker control module that is available on Amazon would have fit the original ice maker and cost less, but the coating on the original unit's ice tray was not great in a few spots so I decided to replace the entire ice maker unit.

I have a circa 2001 Jenn-Air side-by-side fridge and this part was a near-perfect replacement for the original. The only catch was that this fridge held the ice-maker in place with plastic clips rather than screws, and the clips (on the fridge) needed a bit of filing in order for the slightly thicker metal of the replacement's attachment points to slot it. Once installed, the new ice maker worked without a hitch. My original's tray coating had been flaking off for years, unbeknownst to me, and contaminating my ice cubes with weird flakes, smells and flavours that I thought were due to my local water's hardness. God knows what effects ingesting the coating chemicals had on my family's health. With the new ice-maker, my ice cubes are now flavour-less and odour-less, like they should be. The new tray's coating looks different compared to the old (white vs yellow) so hopefully it won't flake over time, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on it.

Icemaker works well when installed (see later comment) and is actually a bit quieter than the original. Installation was simple, with one hitch. If you are replacing an existing icemaker, BEFORE you order this one, make sure your old icemaker has a detachable cord. As it turns out, mine did not, so I then had to order a separate cord to plug into the power, etc in the freezer. That jacks the price (shipping, etc). So, good replacement, but make sure you have the right unit for your situation.

Installed OK but shut off arm is not long enough to shut off ice from overflowing into freezer and creating a huge mess of ice
