If you put other clothes in the washer with it, like towels or anything it will make "pills" . The way to avoid pilling on the fabric is to ALWAYS WASH IT BY ITSELF. The hat comes out perfectly when washed alone. Then let it air dry. I put mine on top of my dryer and it dried in about a few hours. You can put it on the end of a chair or hang it to dry, it will dry quickly. Don't put it in a dryer at all and NEVER PUT IT IN A DRYER WITH OTHER THINGS IT WILL RUIN IT WITH PILES AND IT WILL DESTROY THE FABRIC SHAPE. **Q: What is the difference between this hat (the A205) and the A18?** A: A205 is pictured and does not roll up. A18 rolls up.
