we just baught one of these and love it, but i have two kids and there is one knife. is there a way to buy an extra knife?

That's a good question. Not sure. Sorry. Ours only had one knife as well but ended up buying Melissa & Doug's bread collection which also came with a knife so now we have 2.

Are the paints lead free? Formaldehyde free wood?

Yes-- all Melissa and Doug items conform to the CPSIA safety testing requirements.

Could a well supervised child enjoy this toy?

Yes, even unsupervised. It has no sharp edges except for the pretend wood box/tray it comes in. I take the box away while they play with these fruits. All the kids here love pretending to cut with the toy knife. We talk about how mom and dad are the only ones that can use the real knifes. Plus how we never bother them while they are cutting. This is an excellent learning / teaching tool for all ages, infant on up. Love it!! ❤️

My son loves this. We place the Velcro side on pillows and he cruises across the couch pulling them off. Only issue is the melon does not stick together well as it is 4 parts.
