Perfect fit for S&S D4 378 cover and the S&S Tear Drop backing plate 17-0502. The answer for question: Does this fit the S&S D4 378 cover is incorrect. The person giving the answer is assuming that the D4 378 is the old style Super B Tear Drop cover and it's not. The old style Super B Tear Drop cover has the S&S Cycle nostalgic raised letters. The D4 378 has the indented S&S Cycle letters.Please see the photos attached for what I'm talking about. This air filter fits the D4 378 cover with the S&S Tear Drop backing plate 17-0502. It won't fit the S&S cover from the Super B Tear Drop cover and the way to tell the difference is the raised letters on the Super B versus indented letters of other models from S&S.

Got it fast, it fits!
I did a carb rebuild ant it was time for a new air filter. This one arrived quickly and was an was an exact fit replacement. You gotta git-cha one if your filter is old and doesn’t clean up like it did years ago.

Good filter for S&S G replacement filter!
Sorry I can't post 5 stars, but this replaced a foam teardrop S&S G filter on my 87 Softail and I've only put 50 miles on the bike so far. Fit perfect, bike runs fine. I was a little worried going from foam to the filter style but no issues. This filter was marked as washable, so I will update later.

AWESOME! I can really tell the extra “7” Plus Horsepower! The only set back was I needed to get longer screws.
I had to install half inch longer screws. The new filter is thicker, but worth the extra effort! Can really tell the difference, Carburetor REALLY BREATHES easy! Still 5 Star! ***** 6-Pictures posted, I could only see through my Browser tho... * 2000 H.D. Sportster 883 bumped to 1200 with S&S Carburetor. *Had for few days now, Wow! Bike has never run this GREAT, 6-STAR! Worth the $$!
