Cisco is simply the best in network technology, and this switch is no exception. It is made of high-quality materials, and has never failed me, even once. The switch has maintained connectivity since I hooked it up with no interruptions. And you know how unmanaged switches are - plug and play - no setup required. If I have one criticism, I would like for the power adapter port to be on the same side as the interface ports, so that I could more easily view the status LEDs, but this could just be a placement issue on my part, and does not affect my overall review. If you are a gamer or maintain a media server at home, this 5-port Gigabit Ethernet switch is a perfect addition to your network.

But why did I choose this one that's just over $40 (at the time of this review), over others that are like $20, or even $15? Well, the main reason that I chose this one, is because of what I read in reviews. Which is that, the cheap ones tend to run a little warm, or even hot, while this one never runs warm or hot. And I'm happy to report that those claims have proven to be true so far, for my experience with this switch. The other reason that I chose this switch, is because the last one that I had WAS a much cheaper one, and it only lasted about a year before it just completely stopped working. It constantly ran a little warm as well. And so, I am definitely satisfied with this Cisco 5 Port Switch.

... that failed after two years but this Cisco switch runs cool to the touch where the TP-Link switches always ran warm or hot when under load.

Got it because I only have 1 wall outlet for internet but 3 devices. Works great, I don't notice any loss over 3 devices.

CISCO is a well established name in the industry and the product works as it should. For your home, it's a lot more expensive than let's say a Linksys or Netgear switch which does the same thing

If you have a couple of devices at particular place you need to plug it into your network, then this is a right device for the job. I have it for more than a year. It just makes the job done, straight out of the box. No any reboots of factory resets during the entire period I have it. And one more good thing to say about this device, it is not hot at all, the temperature of the case practically the same that room temperature. I highly recommend this device.
